Tell me about my car!

Tell me about my car!

Hi there! I’m not what most people would consider “a car person” but I do like collecting random bits of information, and I like my car a lot, so I want to know more about it!

I do know that it’s a 2010 Honda fit, and it’s imported from Japan (the manual is entirely in Japanese) I’ve had it customised to add a reversing camera.

I’m mostly looking for things I can say to my dad’s car friends to brag about my car. (So far all I have is “it’s fuel efficient”) as well as some tips to keep in mind while driving it?

Basically, just tell me things about my car that I may not know (which is almost everything)

She fits, and so, she sits.

This is our new cat, Deja vu! I think she fits quite nicely in our shoe cubby

Here’s my new SICat!

I actually thought about this sub when I was driving home with this little lady! The shelter gave her the name Deja so now her full name is Deja vu which I feel is fitting for this sub

In the terms of this sub from my very limited experience:

She’s an estimated 2025 edition who was preowned, still getting used to her new home. She’s got a powerful motor, and is compact and good at fitting into tight spots, though she’s likely going to be pricey to fuel

Anything I need to know about owning a girl cat?

So I have this new cat, Deja, and I’ve always been living with cats for my whole life, but they’ve always been male cats. Deja has been desexed so this might be a stupid question but is there anything I need to be prepared for or to expect when having a girl cat as opposed to a boy?

My beautiful boy Merlin

I’m honestly devastated. Merlin, my baby boy, had his life cut short at only a year and a half old. I keep hoping this will turn out to be a bad dream and he’ll trot in through the door and ask for cuddles.

He was the cutest, sweetest, most handsome cat I’ve ever had, and he made a habit of making sure everyone in the area knew he was full of love. He even convinced some people who “weren’t cat people” to change their minds!

I miss him so much, I wish I could talk to him one last time, because I want to tell him I’m sorry I wasn’t there for him, that he had to go scared and alone.

The last handful of photos of him were taken by my late mother, who was a professional photographer, and specifically looked for a breed of cat (Burmese tonkinese mix) that was known to be affectionate because she knew I loved fussing over cats. My heart breaks imagining her seeing him coming over the rainbow bridge, not having expected him for many more years. I imagine her first thought would have been how devastated I would be.

Merlin made me understand when people call cats their babies, since before I mostly saw cats as my siblings. But Merlin was my son in all but blood. I wish he could have been around longer, that I could have prevented this, but I know I couldn’t have.

I’m willing to share any stories about him in life, but this is long enough already, so if you want some, ask in the comments

Rate Merlin perchance? He recently left us

I may have gotten too excited to show him off so I have reached the cat photo limit

I think everyone who’s met him agrees he’s handsome, I just think reddit strangers should also know the handsome boy Merlin

Rest in peace, my tuxy boy Tipsy

It’s been a long time since he passed; at least two years, but we still talk about him. We had no idea how old he was, mostly because he wasn’t our cat to begin with. We kind of accidentally stole him from the neighbours, and even after they moved he found his way back to us!

He was loud, and as you can probably tell, very food-motivated. We would have put him on a diet, but everyone on our street fed their cats outside and Tipsy went around stealing leftovers.

My favourite memory of him is when we had some tradesmen working on our house, and one of them turns the corner down the hall and I just hear him say to himself: “Jesus that’s a big cat”

We had to put him to sleep since his kidneys were giving up on him, and he was suffering. The vet sent me imprints of his paws and some of his fur that I still keep close

I have plenty more photos of him but most of the time he’s just sitting around

Somsara and Somniphim

A Flying/Psychic type fakemon I designed a while ago based on Pegasus, the Greek god Hypnos, and with supplementary inspiration from seraphim! I mostly made this because I like horses and Greek mythology, and I was wanting a Pokémon based on Pegasus (who by the way was an individual, not a species name)

I also have some ideas of Pokedex entries!

Somsara
Version 1: Incredibly shy, these Pokémon will flee from the first sign of danger. However, under no circumstances should a trainer ever approach a cornered Somsara.
Version 2: The wings on their head cover their eyes at all times to protect other Pokémon from their powerful hypnotic eyes, which are able to put any foe to sleep.

Somniphim
Version 1: Ancient legends depict this Pokémon as a mythical being that was born from the dreams of the first humans. In modern times, a Somniphim protects their sleeping trainer.
Version 2: When its herd is threatened, the Somniphim leader will rear up and spread out all six of its wings to intimidate its opponent, giving the herd time to escape.

My cat passed away

This is the first time I’ve lost a pet that hasn’t been put down due to complications of old age. Merlin was only a year and a half old and he got hit by a car. I don’t know who hit him or when but I miss him so much already.

He was such a sweet cat, incredibly affectionate and loving, even to strangers, and he convinced some non-cat people that he could be the exception. It was so sudden too, and I keep feeling like there should have been something I could have don’t to prevent this. I want this to be a bad dream, that I was just wrong in identifying the body and he’ll come home and happily rub up against my hand again.

I miss him so much, he was basically my baby; my son and he’s gone. I want to throw myself into other cats just to hear purring again but I’m scared of breaking down more than I already am.

I've got an OC, any tips?

Hello!

Sorry if this seems weird or is the wrong place, but I have this character, a giant snake in an SCP-style world. Since I imagine her as a titanoboa, and titanoboa was found in Cerrejón, I named her Milena, but I would like some further tips to make her culture feel more real and appropriate!

For personality, she's kind, considerate and chatty, but is maybe a bit forceful with making sure the people she cares about (which is everyone) is taking care of themselves. She's relatively chill about being in a research facility too.
