Please give me any tips or anything to help with practicing dynamics and perspective! I'm really new to drawing but I love pokemon so much and I love seeing fakemon designs so I wanted to give it a try and make a fakemon region based on my home state; Washington. Orclet is mainly based on Akhlets which are part wolf' part orca. I want to include some inspiration from all of the shipyards and naval bases here but my mind is kind of drawing blanks on how to correlate the two together. Lmk what you think!
After hearing your feedback, I’ve made a few changes to make the design less visually complex, and easier to understand- hopefully the head should be much easier to see now. Still happy to receive criticisms though!
Flinpup is one of three choices of starters for my fakemon region. It is a mischievous wolf pup who may accidentally start a fire as a prank but will put it out quickly if it can. This alludes to the fact that it will evolve into the first ever Fire/Fairy type Lunpyr which i will draw soon. I am still practicing with drawing but felt confident enough to post this finally. I based Lunpyr and Flinpup as well as the final form on werewolves and the moon as well as fairy types connection to the moon. Also based slightly on Okami's Amaterasu but if it was Tsukinomi the moon goddess instead. Still playing around with the designs but this is a good first step no?
Commissioner: u/Roxxaloo
These are starter fakemon of a region based on California. The slothling line is based on ground sloths and giant redwood trees, the Squidlit line on humboldt squids, and the Paddlemian line on Californian surfing culture. And monkeys.
The Paddlemian line is pure water, but the Slothling and Squidlit lines both gain additional types later on, that being Ground and Dark respectively.
=ABOUT THE COMMISSION=
The commissioner, Roxxaloo, gave me a lot of creative liberty for these designs, and a lot of time, so the design process was quite stress-free.
It took me around a month to complete these nine fakemon, and my perfectionist side still thinks they could be even better, but Roxx expressed satisfaction with these designs, so all in all, I guess it's a job well done! I'm glad my first ever commission turned out so well!
Meet Jadeon the Yang Pokémon. I was looking through various dragon type Eeveelutions Western and Eastern dragons and even the occasional Kirin/Qilin but I decided to make it stand out and based it on a Longma, a Dragon-Horse from Chinese mythology and we currently don't have a longma based Pokémon (unless you origin Dialga and Origin Palkia)
I gave Jadeon hooves to sell the dragon horse element and make it stand out from the other dragon type Eeveelution. Also it can learn fly
Pokédex entry : Jadeon is seen as a good omen by people and they often bring jewels or shiny objects to people who treat them well . It also can sense evil presence
Moves it can learn
Dragon Pulse
Breaking Swipe
Dragon Rush
Draco Meteor
Dragon Tail
Dragon Dance
Flamethrower
Heat Wave
Stomping Tantrum
Wrap
Dragon Claw
Fire blast
Fly
Aura sphere
Abilities: Shed Skin , Intimidate
Anyways...
Fowlush (Fowl + Lush)
Based on Selkie chickens, with the leafy eyebrows turning into a sleeping mask, with its plumage looking like pajamas.
Parvorowda (Paboreal (Filipino for Peacock) + Arboreal + Pavo (Peafowl Genus) + Rowdy + Garuda)
Based on the Green Peafowl (a Peafowl species native to SouthEast Asia as well as Southern China, Pavo Miejue (an extinct Peafowl species found in Taiwan (I know that Taiwan isn't technicnally part of Southeast Asia, but it's often paired with Southeast Asia, so... let me have this.) Garuda and punk rockers.)
Designer's notes: I wanted to do something different to the usual cassowary or jungle fowl (either would be cool), then I remembered that Browt is known as the Bean Chick Pokemon, and the chickpea is a type of bean. Also, if you seperate chickpea into "chick" and "pea" and swap them around, you get "peachick, the youngling of a peafowl. For Parvorowda, I tried to do a peafowl design without making it look TOO much like Quaquaval (even though they're more based on wading birds like grebes), so I decided to give it a punk rocker vibe with the mohawk. Also, chickens and peafowls are part of the same order (Galliformes) and the same family (Phasianidae), so having a selkie chicken evolving into a peafowl wouldn't be too far off (I mean, just ask the Pikipek line.).
----------
Chowcoal (Chow Chow + Carcoal/Coal)
Based on the Chow Chow (a floofy dog breed, just like the pomeranian.).
Pagsabrong (Pagsabog (Filipino for explosion) + Barong)
Based on Mastiffs, Barong, guardian lions and Fireworks.
Designer's notes: I tried to make this line not suffer from "it gets bigger" syndrome, so I included a few elements, like the fiery marking on Chowcoal's chest, and Pagsabrong's front paws being cloaked in a pinkish flame. Also, I made Pagsabrong semi-bipedal (akin to Swampert and Skeledirge) because I can.
----------
Tokask (Tokay Gecko + Cascade)
Based on the Tokay Gecko.
Karanaga (Karagatan (Filipino for Ocean) + Naga)
Based on Geckos (such as the Tokay Gecko, Meditation, Waterfalls, Seers and Naga.
Designer's Notes: Like the others, this is my attempt without copying of other people who made/commissioned something similar, so this is the best I can come up with. When I was making this line, I was wondering "how can I have a gecko turn into a part-snake like creature?" Simple. Make the legs slightly smaller, making it look like it meditating (a-la lotus pose). I also turned the marking between Tokask's eyes into Karanaga's "third eye", as it perfers to have its eyes closed. I also decided to have its long tail look like a cascading waterfall. Also, considering that the fully evolved Water Starters have a weapon theming (Blastoise: Cannons, Feraligatr: Brass Knuckles, etc.), I settled for a whip, hence the tail.
What do you think? If they were real, which would you pick? (I'm still picking Browt either way.)
(And yes, I had to use Google Translate to find Filipino words for their names, considering that Winds/Waves could be based on Southeast Asia.)
For this one, I’d love to know if people think the design is too visually complex to function as a proper pokemon- I think it is, but then again it is a Mythical and the higher rarity pokemon do tend to be more complex. Is this more complex than say, Rayquaza, for example? Would love some opinions.
Edit: Feedback received, working on a simpler design that I’ll post on here later today once I’ve made some progress. Thanks for the help!
These are epic. English is still not my first language.
the last ones kindof felt mid so i decided to try my best to make it as neat and acurate as possible lol
Marblemon are creatures that can all transform in a small blue marble when threatened. This is what connects them all together.
Marblemon can have up to 3 base abilities, with a 4th passive ability that has to be activated to take effect. Only one Marblemon can activate their passive per battle.
Each Marblemon has 3 alternate color schemes. A 1/1000 alter, 1/2000 ultra alter, and a 1/4000 hyper alter.
This line was received very positively when I posted my design dumps for Marblemon, so I wanted to make a post solely focused on them so that I could share more about them, like their stats, abilities, and entries.
