If the universe is unfathomably vast and our lives are just a cosmic blink, then it does not make sense to care so much.

I feel like it is an existential paradox. I know, we are hard wired to be hyper aware of things surrounding us, things happening to us. But don't you think, after knowing so much more about our existence and universe, we should have been evolved to care less? Like why does it matter if my piece of toast got burnt, someone doesn't like me, or I made a mistake at work?

Does the local culture tend to lean toward more conservative values?

I am NOT from Jabalpur, but I’m hoping to better understand the general mindset and cultural views of the city.

I have a few friends from there, and I can't help but notice some traditional, and sometimes sexist attitudes, even among Gen Z. For example, a male friend's parents recently came to visit, and we had a chance to meet up. During a casual conversation, they mentioned that they expect women to prioritize taking care of the family first, even if they are working professionals. They also expressed a preference for someone traditional and highly religious, while openly stating they wouldn't expect their son to do the same things. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, that kind of explicit gender bias felt very dated to me.

I’ve noticed a similar pattern even among the younger guys in this circle. However, since my exposure is limited to my specific friend group, I know it’s entirely unfair to judge an entire city based on that alone.

I would love to know more about the general culture from people who actually live there.
