Opinion on if you want a Titans Webtoons comic
So DC comics just announced a couple of new webcomic series that will probably be released on Webtoons sometime in November. It got me thinking about what a Titan’s Webtoons story would look like and if I would want DC to make one.
I wanted to see if other people would want a webtoons series about the Titans? And if you do want a webtoons series what would you want it to be about and what characters would you want to see featured.
Personally I can go either way. On one hand I always want more content about my favorite characters and the webtoons series seem to have done a great job at introducing new readers to these dc characters. Personally I would love for more causal DC enjoyers who don’t really read comics to learn about Donna Troy and Joey Wilson. If the webtoons were to get popular enough, DC might possibly start investing more in Titans stories and characters.
The downside is that these webtoons stories always seem to be extremely out of character and the character dynamics always get diluted to become more palatable. The characters and dynamics get so mischaracterized because DC webtoons comics only want to tell more upbeat/silly stories with little character conflict. And if their is character conflict it gets resolves within 2 issues top. At least that’s what I observed from reading Wayne Family Adventures, the other WEBTOON stories could be different. Anyway, While I do love the more silly titan stories/dynamics part of what makes them my favorite team is how messy they can be since they have known each other for so long. I wouldn’t want this aspect of the team and characters to get erased just so DC can sell a more pg version of the Titans. There is already so much mischaracterization of these characters we don’t need more.
I have to admit I’m also little surprised that DC hasn’t released a WEBTOON story yet for either the Titans or the 1998 Young Justice team. Both teams already have the perfect formate for one of DC’s WEBTOON comics. You know that sweet found family dynamic that go on adventures together. A WEBTOON set in Titans tower with all the titans living together sounds like a perfect formate for a DC WEBTOON comic.
Anyway what do you guys think? Would you want DC to make a Titans WEBTOON series? If you do what would you want the series to be about and what characters would you want involved?
