Shark teeth from the Greenhorn Formation of SD. 95 mya. Found 77 in the past 3 trips and each trip has only been about 10 minutes just for fun.
Edmontosaurus caudal vert, Rex tooth, Crocodile vert, and a triceratops toe bone.
Pretty sure the tiny one is protolamna. All these teeth were in 3 chunks of limestone just about the size of my hand. I’ve got plenty others that I’ll prep out and post soon. Still looking an articulated ptychodus jaw.
Just purchased at Dave’s Rock Shop in Custer, SD
I found this in the Chesapeake Group in a creek in Central VA and I know it’s whale or dolphin bone, most likely whale given the size. I think it’s from somewhere on the skull but was wondering if anyone could give me a region on the skull of where it would be located. I was thinking further towards the back of the skull where it meets the lower jaws, but I don’t know much about whales.
Tried finding some Miocene exposures along a river near my house, but accidentally found a Paleocene one. Still pretty cool and now I’ve got two options.
