I appreciate any help
still one of my favorite finds, despite not being complete! (found on the Mogollon Rim, AZ)
I found my first crab(?) fossil on Murdock beach in WA! I think it’s in mudstone. Is there any way to reveal more of the fossil without damaging it?
Also curious if anyone knows why/how it kept its original color? Sorry, I’m a major amateur!!
Found at Manasota Key, Florida, USA on Sunday. About 1 cm long.
Found this just after proposing to my wife on the beach. I suspect it’s a scallop, but ultimately unsure.
Wondering if this looks like a bison metatarsal or if it is something else. Found in the Alafia river among lots of other Ice Age bone. Thanks for looking
I have found coral fossils before in this area but this has to be my best specimen to date. Can anyone tell me if these are all corals? Is that possibly an insect wing? (Pic 2) Or leaf? Any info or knowledge would be much appreciated.
Was out trout fishing with a buddy and stumbled on these when the bite died down. Not the first fossils I’ve found along the creek but the first one (pictured 1-4 is stumping me). I assumed it was just a rock inclusion but with surrounding layer of fossil shells, my buddy assumed the black object must be a fossil as well. Picture 5 I believe is a fossil corral? Not really sure. I’ve found a much better specimen in the past (picture 6) which I believe is the same thing. All were found exposed on the creek surface. Any help would be great.
Hi everyone new here, I’ve recently found this. Was from Oxfordshire, looked to be in river terraced gravels.
Thanks
Found at the local lake here in Texas.
Beer anyone?
I found this back in August 2023 in Presqu’ile Provincial Park, just on the shore of Lake Ontario. I’ve been hunting there occasionally for several years, but this was the first complete Trilobite I discovered.
I just recently got the motivation to resume working on it and chipping away the extra stone. There’s still some more cleaning up that has to be done around the head, but I’m still quite happy with how it’s coming along.
Found in college station, Tx. Whiskey bridge area. It is insanely heavy but I can’t seem to get the orange off either picked it up because perfect tube at the top portion
My family is vacationing to Arizona- spending a couple days at the Grand Canyon (South Rim) and a couple days in Sedona. I’d love recommendations for places we can look for rocks, fossils, petrified wood, etc within driving distance of either location. A few considerations:
• kids are 7 & 10 years old, we’re willing to hike but not looking for anything too grueling
• I have no digging/searching experience so I’ll welcome any and all tips (even as basic as what tools I should bring or get there)
• ideally we’d like to be able bring whatever we find home. I know many places you have to leave everything. (certainly not expecting to discover anything rare or super cool but my kids will bring home regular old rocks from the dog park if they’re shiny, ha)
Thank you in advance!
Great couple of days at Fossil Beach on the Potomac River at Westmoreland State Park, Virginia. This was the most interesting find by far. Park ranger thought it might be cow shark. But maybe a well worn chubby? What do you think?
I want to start fossil hunting as a hobby, but i don't really know what to do (well, besides looking for the fossils) does anyone have any good advise on fossil hunting?
I've had this for ages I can't remember where I got it
Found this tooth on a Lake Erie beach in Ohio. Any idea what it could be??
