Minecraft for the win!!

I was bumping around a Goodwill store the other day looking for frames to repurpose for my diamond art. When all of a sudden… I came across these 3 STACKING Minecraft mugs and thought they would be good containers for washing my paint by number brushes out. They are plastic and they have these little ledges on the rims-which would be wonderful to lay a brush across & pour from (to empty when changing the water). Also pretty portable since plastic and unbreakable. and the bonus is how cute they look when you swivel them.

Re: paint by number (with metallic transfer accent) kit

Hi, I have this kit that comes with four little canvases. I have read through the directions on the back of the box for applying the metallic transfers. They are showing that they should be applied after all paint is dry. However, since part of the process of applying them includes pressing down on them with a damp paper towel, I see a risk in smudging the paint, even though it’s dried. So I was thinking about applying the transfers first and then painting around them as I go through the paint by number kit. Feel like this might be the safer route and I don’t see any drawback to it. I did another kit that was similar, but the foil was pre-embedded/applied in the canvas, and I just worked around the foil, which is what the intention of the kit was… and it came out really nice.

Stirring the pot

I read a post this morning here. It was very helpful about preparing the Canvas for PBN. One thing that I read was about stirring the little pots of paint for 3 to 4 minutes to sort of activate and blend the acrylic paint. I just got a new kit and I didn’t do that. But I’m going to try it. Is it something you need to do right before you sit down and paint or can I do it right now if I think I’m going to paint later this evening?

Canvas texture question

I saw a wonderful post about how to prep Canvas with GESSO. I’m a beginner so I of course I’m hearing this for the first time. But from my very limited experience with PBN, I find that when I first fill the paintbrush with paint and apply it to the canvas. It doesn’t saturate the canvas right away. So I just use my brush and I kind of give that light/sparse brush first and then I go back over to give Better coverage. Is this something that people normally do? Or is this avoided by applying the GESSO in the first place? Also would really like to know what people use to seal their PBN upon completion. Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Outline question

Again, brand new PBN artist! I took a little section of one of my painting projects. Please take a look at it and I would appreciate any feedback on which part looks good and which part could look better and why/how. My understanding of PBN is that you want to stay inside the lines and the outline should show and if you don’t do that you’ve made an error. So in this little screenshot, the blue section to the far left. Looks perfect or nearly perfect to me. On the right hand side there is some blurring of the outline. Any suggestions appreciated!

OOPS-I forgot the photograph! I am trying to edit, but I don’t see where it allows me to add a photo after the fact.

Out of bounds ?

Hi, I’m pretty much a newbie at PBN. Just starting to get the hang of it and just joined this group! I am an avid diamond art painter so of course this seemed like a natural transition. Very very basic question is what do you do when you’ve gone over a line/out of bounds?

Within the last month, someone posted about some containers that they found at the dollar store. They might’ve called at Dollar General. I’m trying to reconstruct what they said about these particular containers for storing drills. I know that they said they were stackable and they are little individual drawers. But for the life of me, I cannot remember how they use them. I thought it was so interesting that I ran out and bought some and now I’m trying to remember why… Lol. I have a hunch that it had something to do with creating permanent storage for drills where one drawer could fit many small bags of drills inside. So I think it had to do with permanent versus temporary storage. Maybe someone else saw this post and can help out?
