I've been listening to some Weather Report lately, and something struck me when listening to the "Cucumber Slumber" track on Mysterious Traveller (1974). The saxophone led part starting from 6:35 did remind me a lot of Nate Smith's "Bounce, Pts. I + II" track on Kinfolk (2017), especially its main gimmick also saxophone led.

This might be obvious as I've just been listening to Weather Report for the first time lately, but their influence on the whole Nate Smith/Cory Wong/Vulfpeck etc. team seems important, to say the least. I couldn't find any reliable information about though, such as interviews or whatever.
