Self-destruct mode

Hi, I am having a bad few days and have reached the point where I just don't care about myself anymore. Basically my sole purpose in life is to care for my parents. I used to be so into fitness, gym, walking, cooking and eating healthily. Now I can't be bothered to do anything like that. It's like I don't care about putting on weight- it's not like anyone sees me except my parents and their doctors! I never used to be like this and it is scary. Has anyone felt like this and what did you do to make it pass?

Missing old life

It's been a couple of months since my Dad received his cancer diagnosis. At the time I was living over 200 miles away but as an only child without a family of my own, I always knew I'd move back 'home' to care for my parents when the time came. So, I moved back, thinking it would be for a couple of months while Dad recovered from major surgery. Sadly, the cancer was more advanced than expected and it's likely Dad's lifespan will be severely limited and he will need ongoing chemo/immuno/radio therapy for the foreseeable. I am devastated and there is no question that I will be staying here for the future. I have given notice at work (was able to WFH/take some unpaid leave with an understanding employer but this can't continue with the various appointments I need to take Dad to, I cannot concentrate anyway) and put up my apartment for sale.

I'm not sure what answers I'm looking for here- but has anyone been in a similar situation and felt sad for their old life? I know how selfish this sounds but just a couple of months ago I was planning vacations, doing weekend day trips to new places, working etc...now all I can see in the future is hospital appointments, horrendous treatment side effects and basically watching my Dad die.

Spread to lymph nodes

Hi, my Dad recently got the pathology back from his RC and it’s T3bN1. Very shocked to hear that it has already spread to the lymph nodes as he had a CT scan just 3 weeks before the surgery which didn’t show any suspicious nodes, although spread into the fat layer was suggested even then.

Is there any hope of a cure at this stage or is it just chemo/immunotherapy until it no longer works, with lots of side effects along the way?
