Mental Revival
Hi all, just want to share my note on the mental aspects of recovery. I hit a real low 2 weeks post op as movement has always been instrumental to my life. I cried my eyes out and complained to my wife and family how much I was suffering. I even suggested I wouldn’t go on Euro trip with wife to meet her family for first time.
The next day I went back to meditating and told myself I’d focus on day to day progress instead of thinking of everything I had lost. My mental state changed once I let go of how I had imagined my life pre op.
4 weeks post op we made it Poland and I even crutched myself up Wawel castle as shown and toured the city with a golf cart. We had a great meet up with the in-laws and I don’t think it could’ve been better even if uninjured.
I continue the trip seeing friends in Europe and exploring all I can given protocol. My advice for anyone struggling mentally is that everything changes when you transition your mind from how you invisioned it pre-op to focusing on your current situation and enjoying the gains along the way. Best of luck to everyone ! Love you all and we’ll make it through
