Brought the 2026 home this weekend!

I can honestly say I’m happy with the purchase! First Yamaha street bike, and first time riding a bike with the CP2, and now I understand all hype, this little guy rips! I’ve owned several v-twins, 650 and 1K, and one 910 inline 4, and my previous bike was the Speed 400, which I literally dropped off on my way to pick this one up. I cannot wait until I get the miles up to I can really open this guy up!

Ran into this guy the other day, and yes, the owner was ripping around town on it. I talked to the guy for a minute inside the shop as he was purchasing his first helmet, and no, he was not wearing a helmet when he flew into the parking lot. He had literally just taken possession and left the previous owner’s location. He has full intentions of rebuilding the bike, hopefully starting with new front suspension. I told him that is a must, I mean, we’re talking a major hazard taking that thing down the highway at speed, which I told him to avoid at all cost. I must be completely honest and state the motor sounded really healthy, not being sarcastic, so maybe the guy has a solid starting platform.

The one thing that has me scratching my head is I have found only one bike online with conventional forks. Could the current front end be some sort of one off swap someone half assed?
