Please help me decide between two offers. I have 4.5 hours to decide.

I was laid off 5 months ago, and after a tumultuous and stressful period of my life, I finally got not one offer, but two! Please help me choose wisely.

Option one: global, well known company (think McDonald’s, Walmart) but a very entry level, low salary (but livable) position. It is 5 days in office with a 1.5 hour commute each way, but they want to move me to the location that’s opening in my area at the end of the year. I’m confident that I can work my way up as I’ve done in the past, but I’m already in my 40s. This position is in a department that I’m not interested in doing but I’m hoping with a bigger company there will be options for me to move departments down the line.

Option two: entry sales with another well known company. This is fully remote and uncapped commission, but the base is low (unlivable alone). It’s in an industry that I’m passionate about and I do see myself being able to get experience here in a field I can see myself growing in. Fully remote. I’ve heard many horror stories on this company and this position and I have never done sales before.

Friends have told me to take option 1 because of the job security, but a part of me wants to take option 2. I tend to make rash decisions and regret it later so would appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Edit: I chose option 1. Thank you for your input, everybody.

I’ve heard hellish reviews on this position on Reddit, but maybe these are people who aren’t cut out for sales?

What can I do about a neighbor smoking inside their unit? [IL]

I have been having issues with a neighbor that smokes inside their bathroom that causes smoke to come inside my bathroom and fills my one bedroom apartment. I have a young kid and it scares me thinking of all the second hand smoke she’s inhaling.

I’ve complained numerous times to management and they did come in and smelled the smoke themselves. They inspected the neighboring unit and said they couldn’t smell any lingering smoke, but they gave them a 6 day notice so that might’ve given them enough time to cover it up.

I’m at my wits end. The only option management is giving me is to move to another unit. I did contact cook county health department and it seemed hopeful at first, but it ended nowhere.

Any advice? My next step is confronting them but I’m a single mom and this is a big scary looking dude.

Edit: our building has a strict no smoking rule including on balconies.

Inside sales rep 12 levels in the Local Sales Path

For anyone who started at this position with a starting base salary at $37k and targeting total income at $50k, plus a year 2 targeted base pay of $47k and total income at $80k. Was this actually the average pay you received? The path goes up each year as base salary and bonus structure increases. I’m wondering if this is an actually achievable path or did most employees not see this type of growth/income.

Applied for a job at Yelp and got rejected but they said I should apply for a sales position

Do they do this to everyone that gets rejected or if they think you’re actually qualified? I’ve been laid off since January and really need a job. I know it’s crappy pay but it’s something

I’m about to interview for an email marketing position but they’re asking that I screen share during the interview for a live skills test. Does anybody off have experience with this? What kind of questions are asked?

I have an interview with CT for an email marketing position. They’re asking me to screen share for a skills test. Does anybody have experience with this or a similar situation? I understand if this was for a coding job but I’m not sure what kind of skills they would want to test for an email marketer.
