I think we all know the history of black people in the west, how we were treated during slavery and that most of the blacks in this region carry the names of our former colonizers. Our ancestors names and culture were stripped away from them in extremely inhumane ways. In a way I want to honor them and especially "fix" what was wrong, meaning rejecting the name that was connected to slave masters, rapist, murders literally all the horrible shit you can think of.. Idk why their is so little amount of my people that do this?? Im thinking it's just lack of education (in terms of our history), dehumanising West African propaganda and of course a white supremacist and eurocentric way of thinking push on us.

Im of course inspired by some of my idols like:

Kwame Nkrumah, born "Francis Nwia-Kofi Ngonloma", who dropped his Christian and European-style name "Francis" to adopt the native name Kwame Nkrumah.

Malcolm X, changed his name from Malcolm Little to X to represent the rejection of his slave name (Little). The "X" symbolized his unknown African tribal name, lost forever due to slavery.

And especially Kwame Ture, (he's Trinidadian) (im Jamaican) changed his name from Stokely Carmichael to Kwame Ture in honor of Kwame Nkrumah and Sékou Touré of Guinea.
