Fifty-nine years ago today, US-backed Bolivian military forces executed Ernesto “Che” Guevara.

Che was in Bolivia forming a guerrilla to spread revolutionary “focos” to fight oppression around Latin America. Decades later, Che has become a worldwide revolutionary symbol, serving as an example for generations.
