How to proceed from here

Hello, I recently accepted a new job, I have been at my previous job for 5 years and had no major conflicts going on but it was time to move on.

During the interview, I communicated that I had a small dog that I always brought to work with me and that it's important for me to continue doing so, other people also bring their dogs to this office so I though it was no problem. Person who interviewed me would be my manager, told me that I could absolutely bring my dog to work with me. I didn't bring him first week during training to make sure my full focus was understanding my job and expectations. 1 week in I found out that my manager who interviewed me was quitting same week I started working there. On Monday, I brought my dog in and was called into new supervisors office and was asked who I got the permission to bring the dog to work, I explained how I was given okay from the lady who interviewed me. They had me leave my dog at home all week, and now they are having me fill out reasonable accommodation forms saying they probably only allow certified service dogs.
I'm so confused and disappointed, I don't know how to move forward from here. I feel like I was lied to during the interview and now I looked like a person who brings their dog to work without asking anyone🙂‍↕️
