Hostile Record - Showcase

Using a variety of tools, and Google Maps, I was able to recreate the entirety of downtown San Antonio to scale or at least very close to it to use as the location and backdrop of my game, but is still requiring a plethora of details to be added. Here I'm showcasing the first mission, or "assignment" if you will by the Cathedral downtown as the game takes off.

Hostile Record - San Antonio PC Game- Demo

(SKIP to 1:50 if you just wanna see the plaza)

Hello everybody. I hope everybody's off to a good weekend. After 3 months of non stop work, I felt it was time for a break and with that wanted to showcase what I've been working on.

I'm a local solo game developer with a love for films and shows. In taking inspiration from shows like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Law & Order SVU, etc.
I wanted to use a real location and am attempting to incorporate San Antonio as the backdrop for my game that I'm working on where you play as Victoria, a 29 year old agent navigating her way through the corruption and existential dread of the legal system and just everyday life in her field.

All the characters are played out by me using a motion capture suit in my living room.

Using a variety of tools, and Google Maps, I was able to recreate the entirety of downtown San Antonio to scale or at least very close to it but is still requiring a plethora of details to be added. Right now you can literally see and fall through the ground into the void if you go too far out from the area I've been working on and if you look closely in the background by the river and other areas, there's just "nothing" at the end because I haven't gotten that far yet so go easy on me!

Here I'm showcasing the first mission, or "assignment" if you will by the Cathedral downtown as the game takes off. My hopes are to make a good - close to accurate representation of SA in the game dev field and make the characters feel real and imperfect with their tangled life situations.

In any case, I'm open for any feedback, suggestions or ideas anyone might want to contribute. I'm always developing re-writing the script so nothings set in stone. I for sure gotta throw in mattress and a giraffe somewhere in there at some point. I muted out the profanity to post here just to be safe. Hope you like it!

Former Unreal Engine 'lead evangelist' Sjoerd De Jong leaves Epic Games

"After 27 years of Unreal Engine, and 12 years at Epic Games and Unreal Engine I have decided to move on. Last week was my last week at Epic," De Jong wrote. "This has been an awesome ride that has been truly life changing in so many ways. I didn't have an easy childhood or youth and things weren't going anywhere, but all of that changed entirely when I discovered Unreal Engine."

1 Month of work for 1 minute of gameplay

Just sharing some alpha footage of my current projects intro. It's of course still incomplete and needs polish everywhere, including the enemies, animations and having to now build a background cityscape but is a work in progress. Open for any feedback.

Time to focus on game development

Anybody else feel discouraged that no matter how long it took you to get to your sound after all these years, trying to compete as if the market wasn’t already saturated with other musicians now with an AI model is just as insane? Making music feels empty all of a sudden
