How to sell more tickets at our high school?

So my high school is doing newsies. I unfortunately was cut from the show, but I’ll be working on crew. one of my jobs is “advertising“ the play. we have a pretty big auditorium at our high school, and at our shows, it’s relativery empty. The drama clubs budget is almost entirely built off the previous years ticket sales, and we didn’t do so great last year. We really want to expand our drama club budget so we can make less cuts, better costumes, sets, props, ect. Our school is very big, so I want to drive more students outside of drama club to come see our show. Our tickets are very reasonably priced and we offer concessions. So far we plan to make an announcement on loudspeaker and put up posters. any advice?

How to prepare and cope with a disappointing cast list?

im really on my toes right now because the cast list for my high schools production of Newsies is coming in an hour. I auditioned for katherine which is my dream role (not to mention my dream show) and i would be over the moon to even be in this show. but im not very confident. i messed up my audition and im a freshman (they usually give parts to older kids). i want to be okay with not having a part or getting cut, but its really hard because this is my dream role. does anyone have tips?

update:

i got cut :(

If you don’t accept they/them pronouns, you’re immature.

with the popularization of neopronouns, I wanted to express my opinion.

these neopronouns are getting out of hand. I had someone tell me to refer to them as paw/puppy. No, I will not be doing that. I will only use he she and they. If you use neo pronouns, I will call you they them. if you dont want that, I don’t really care.

they them are neutral pronouns. they are meant to be used for anyone. they them does not have a gender. I’m not misgendering you if I’m not giving you any gender.

What are your worst theatre messup moments?

Welp, just did a show and forgot a bunch of lines and blocking onstage. i need to feel better about my self (or have a good laugh) so what are your worst mess up moments?

(oh and if you remember me from that augustus gloop post, we ended up casting him after sending an email for his approval. we ended up doing that with all the leads.)

Casting Augustus Gloop

My friend is co directing at a kids summer camp (Willy wonka jr) and just held auditions. I will not be working on the show (I‘m going to be in a show myself soon!) but im just dropping in to help with casting. Most of the leads are cast perfectly, but we are conflicted about Augustus gloop. we have one kid in mind, he’s a triple threat, great singer dancer and actor who killed it reading for Augustus. the only thing keeping us from casting him is that he is overweight. we wanted to be very sensitive about the topic by instead casting someone thin and making him look big via costume. However, all thin contenders are either already cast or not suitable for the role. Would it be wrong to cast an overweight child as augustus? he is so young and would hate to break his self esteem. right now we are leaning towards no, but I feel it would be unfair to put him in the ensemble because of his weight. what’s your take?
