Root Beer Stand - Sharonville, OH

Root Beer Stand - Sharonville, OH

Haul from tonight’s visit to Cincinnati’s Root Beer Stand. I got a float, Sonder Brewing’s Root Beer Float Ale, and their own 1/2 gallon root beer.

Haven’t tried the root beer straight up or the ale yet, but the float is solid. Hint of honey, molasses, and mild wintergreen flavor. Overall, pretty pleasant and enjoyable.

Munich Recommendations

Hello, I am traveling to Munich soon and would like recommendations on chocolate brands that can be found in Munich. Any and all recommendations are appreciated.

Cheers!

Thoughts on Rat Bastard Root Beer?

I had it for the first time tonight after hearing so much about it. A few thoughts:

- I have no idea what some of the herbal ingredients are/taste like so I can’t pinpoint much of their flavor contribution
- despite being a main ingredient, molasses flavor seems muted
- it’s a pleasant taste but I think it needs more carbonation (or my bottle was flat)

All the varieties I’ve tried

Any suggestions I should seek out? I mostly pick up new ones when I can find them at candy shops or Jungle Jim’s in Cincinnati.

Haul from Dorothy Lane Market in Mason, OH

Dublin Texas Root Beer is the only one of these I’ve never tried. Sioux City Sarsaparilla is my favorite.

Root Beer Braised Short Ribs

Tried this meal at The Lonely Pine Steakhouse in Pleasant Ridge, Ohio. The restaurant is a Route-66 inspired place with upscale food.

The short ribs were expensive and exceptionally sweet. They braised in IBC Root Beer and the flavor didn’t come across well. I think if they cut it with club soda it would help the overly sweet taste.
