Would you change this desk for a standing desk?

Would you change this desk for a standing desk?

I currently have this beautiful (to me) RH aviator wing desk, but it’s become too big for my space after building the sim rig next to it.

I’ve been wanting to get a standing desk to help with posture and health. With a standing desk I could also custom cut the top to fit my space perfectly. However I find them so plain and lack character like my current desk.

For those with standing desks would you do it again or would you pick something that looks better?

Thanks!

UPDATE: I successfully converted my Gozney Dome Gen 2 from NG to LP

A while back I posted asking for help converting my Gozney Dome Gen 2 from natural gas to propane. I had accidentally purchased the NG version locally and, since it was a cash sale with no return option, I decided to see if I could make the conversion properly.

I promised I would come back with an update and photos if I was successful, so here it is! I hope this helps anyone looking to convert their oven.

Here’s what I changed:

NG orifice
The original NG orifice measured approximately 2.78 mm. I modified the existing orifice and reduced the opening to approximately 1.66 mm for LP.

Air shutter
I needed an air shutter for the burner, so I reused one from an old grill I had. This allowed me to adjust the air/fuel mixture appropriately for propane..

Regulator
I opened up the regulator and found that the plastic valve/screw inside is reversible. It has markings indicating the orientation for NG vs. LP. I inverted it to the LP position, which changes the regulator output from approximately 7” W.C. (water column) for natural gas to 11” W.C. for propane.

Quick-connect fitting
I replaced the existing quick-connect fitting on the oven with a 1/4” fitting compatible with my propane setup.

Propane hose/regulator
I purchased a new propane hose with the appropriate regulator for the propane tank and connected it to the oven’s new quick-connect.

Safety checks:
Before attempting to light the oven, I made sure all of the connections were properly sealed using thread sealant specifically rated for gas, and I thoroughly checked the entire system for leaks.

Once I was confident there were no leaks, I fired it up and adjusted the air shutter to get the proper flame.
The oven is now running successfully on propane.

A few important disclaimers: Gozney does not recommend or officially support converting the NG Dome to LP, so this is not an official Gozney conversion procedure. Anyone attempting something similar should understand that working with gas appliances can be dangerous and should use the appropriate parts, pressure, sealants, and leak-testing procedures.

Converting Gen 2 Dome from Natural Gas to Propane?

I’m hoping someone can help with this.

I recently bought a Gozney Dome Gen 2 locally for a great price. Unfortunately, I made a pretty dumb mistake—I didn’t read the listing or the box closely enough before handing over the cash. Once I got home, I realized it’s the natural gas version, but my house only has propane.
I know Gozney doesn’t recommend converting the oven from natural gas to propane, and since I bought it secondhand with cash, returning or exchanging it isn’t an option. I got such a good deal that I’m planning to keep it regardless, even if I end up using it as a wood-fired oven only. That said, I’d really like to convert it to propane if it’s possible to do safely.

Has anyone successfully converted from natural gas to propane? If so:
What parts did you need?
Was it just the regulator and burner orifice(s), or were there other differences?

I’m not looking to bypass safety features or do anything sketchy—I just want to understand whether the NG and LP models are mechanically different enough that a proper conversion isn’t feasible. I know its fairly common with gas grills so hoiping I can get it done.

Thanks in advance for any insight !

Made In 5.5 qt Dutch oven for $99?

I found this Made In dutch oven in a HomeSense store (a new version of HomeGoods it seems) for only $99 brand new in a sealed box. We've been wanting a DO from Le Creuset but have not been able to find any in the size we need at an affordable price. The build quality and finish of this Made In seems really good and its really heavy!

Anyone with long term experience with one of these? Should I keep it?

Thank you!

Arc XL vs Gozney Dome Gen 1 ($500 open-box) — would you make the switch?

I’m looking for some advice from people who have used both ovens.

I recently bought an Arc XL, and I really like it. However, my original plan was to get a Gozney Dome (or ideally a Dome Gen 2). Unfortunately, the Gen 2 is out of my budget right now.

I found a new/open-box Dome Gen 1 for $500, which has me seriously considering returning the Arc XL and buying the Dome instead.

The main reasons I’m leaning toward the Dome are:
- The flue/chimney setup and the ability to vent smoke and fumes up through my patio-cover roof instead of having everything come out the front
- The possibility of using wood in the future, even though I’d mostly be cooking with gas

For those who have experience with the Arc XL and the Dome Gen 1:
- Is the Dome Gen 1 still worth choosing over the Arc XL in 2026?
- Are there any drawbacks to the Gen 1 that would make you keep the Arc XL?

If you were in my position, would you return the Arc XL and grab the $500 Dome, or stick with the Arc XL until my budget allows to splurge on a Gen2 Dome?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Upgrade recommendations from Breville Oracle Touch [$2000]

Hello folks!

I currently have a Breville Oracle touch paired with a Eureka turbo grinder.

At first, the Oracle seemed like a good compromise for myself and for my wife to prepare lattes on her own however, we realized the grinder sucks and so we bought the Eureka and we now just use the Oracle as a regular dual boiler espresso machine. I still struggle with espresso shot inconsistencies and so looking to upgrade from the Oracle in the hopes of making better espresso.

I am considering selling the Oracle to upgrade to something more ”prosumer”. Any recommendations for a dual boiler machine that would be a significant upgrade in terms of espresso performance? I would like to keep the budget under US$2000 if possible.

Thank you!

How to build something like this?

My wife and I are trying to design out outdoor kitchen and would like to avoid all the stainless steel doors and drawers if possible, but I can’t seem to find anything guides on building an outdoor kitchen similar to the picture attached. Any thoughts or suggestions. The doors can be vinyl or some other composite material since wood would require more maintenance.
