Monitor Arm Stand for Desk with Solid Back

Hi all, I purchased a new 32" monitor as a student and my dorm this fall will have a fairly small desk (24" depth). Is there any monitor arm c clamps that can fit a desk like this on the side? It would need to have an extended reach as the clamp would not work right on the edge of the table (see photo for reference).

If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. The arm clamp would be for a Samsung M90 Smart Monitor.

24" depth desk for 32" Samsung M90 Smart Monitor?

Is a 24" desk enough to productively use the Samsung M90 Smart Monitor for gaming and work? Im a student and my dorm desk only has 24" of depth and Im wondering if a Monitor arm is necessary in this case.

Perioperative Care Assistant for Clinical Hours?

Hey yall, Im looking into jobs at my local hospital for this coming academic year and I found two possible options for me. I know CNA is a good option for clinical hours, however, I also see Perioperative Care Assistant which offers more flexibility in the schedule as a student. Would a perioperative care assistant count as good clinical hours? The job description has patient transport, assisting charge nurses, assisting nursing staff with OR as requested, and cleaning duties. Before I commit to any role would PCA be a good option? I dont want to commit to perioperative care assistant over CNA and later learn it isnt a good clinical experience.

I would greatly appreciate yall's help, thank you!

Review Card Settings

I just started anki a week ago and doing my review cards today they show some crazy intervals (see picture). How do you fix this? These intervals are not normal right? This feels absolutely insane. I have FSRS set at 90% enabled with the default anki settings. What else am I supposed to do? Every other review card has intervals like this.

Deck says finished the deck for now?

I just started my MCAT prep and I just started anki. I completed a specific deck a couple days ago and it still says "Congratulations! You have completed this deck for now. If you wish to study outside of the regular schedule you can use the custom study feature."

It has not let me access this deck deck for a few days now, I thought decks reset after 24 hours. Am I using anki wrong? How do you fix this. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Edit: I finished all the cards within a subset of a deck and they were all marked as good once I went through them enough times. Good says 3 days, is this what is happening? The deck will be "finished" for 3 days since all were marked good?

Starting prep now study method critique?

I'll be a junior this fall and I plan to take the MCAT in January. I've completed all of my premed requurements with the exception of biochemistry (was in accelerated biochem last semester but dropped due to credit overload so at least a third of the content is familiar). My current plan is outlined below, and I would appreciate any tips/suggestions yall may have. My goal score is 515+ and my diagnostic was a 493.

I plan to do content review for 2/2.5 months. My goal is 1/2 Kaplan chapters a day + Jacksparrow relating to said chapters (50 cards per day) + Khan Academy/JW daily CARS passage(s). Once I reach chapter 7 for each book I plan to incorporate UWorld qbank.

Is there anything else I can be doing right now for content review? I've heard of the 300 word doc for P/S, but I dont plan to touch that until I have a foundation from the books. Im going into this semi blind with my schedule built around what Ive seen other people here do. Would greatly appreciate input, thanks yall!

Realistic School List

Hey all,

I just completed my sophomore year and wanted to see where I'm at with my current/predicted acyivities. What schools would you think are in reach, or I guess the bigger question, is an MD program actually attainable for me?

I started my first year at Cornell for engineering then internally transferred to CALS to study bio. I had a 2.8 my freshman year and brought it up to a 3.4 (3.2 sGPA) by the end of my sophomore year (3.7 both semesters completing orgo I & II, physics I & II, comparative physiology, etc).

As far as my activities go..

*I have ~550 hours of research for environmental sustainability with a pub in progress and will be joining a second lab to work on tissue engineering and space medicine this coming semester (should be attending a conference early in the semester; estimating close to 800 hours of research by end of junior year with pub(s) and posters/conferences)

*~100 hours as a BLS Instructor

*40 hours volunteering (non-clinical); should add about 60 more by end of this summer

*At least 1000 hours of NROTC leadership with two very high roles within my unit

*HOSA NY State Competition 2nd Place Medical Law & Ethics; TopGun Laparoscopic and Suturing Program Simulator Trainer

*Wind Symphony principal bari sax (4-6 hours every week continuing to senior year)

*0 shadowing (pursuing shadowing for this summer/winter break hoping to have at least 50)

*0 clinical, but will be working as CNA next semester projecting 350-400 hours by end of junior year

*Organic chemistry tutor (started this summer)

---------------

Besides tutoring and volunteering I am also doing MCAT prep this summer and hoping for a 515+ to offset GPA (test date end of the year). With all of this, could I get some insight as to where I may stand? I see a lot of people say you need a 4.0 and a 520+ to even have a shot at an MD program, but is this true for everything? I am ineligible to apply for many of the top medical programs due to Hegseth's ban for service members, so I just want to get into any MD program. USUHS is looking like my #1 choice

Pre-med involvement for medical school + CNA Certification

Hi all,

I am an undergrad pre-med rising junior and I just wanted to make this post to see if there is anything more I could be doing as a pre-med student. Freshman year was a very rough year for me, and I feel like I have fallen behind. The photo I posted has my current involvements as a student (ROTC eats a decent chunk of time outside of classes).

Besides my current involvements, this summer I am applying to be a scribe, however, I am able to enroll in a CNA certification program to pick up biweekly shifts at my local hospital during the semester. Would CNA be something you suggest, or would you suggest working through other areas? My biggest issue is finding clinical hours, and unfortunately my summers are usually occupied with NROTC training, and my local school area doesn't have any clinical opportunities without certifications/yearly contracts. Yalls help would be greatly appreciated, thank you to those who read!

Have zero knowledge on PCs, is Ryzen 5 5500U good?

Upgraded my monitor to a Samsung smart monitor and Id like to move away from using my laptop as a PC without spending a lot. Buying second hand I can get a Ryzen 5 5500U for $160. Other than knowing 16GB-32GB RAM is what you want to shoot for, is there anything youd recommend?

I just want a PC to be able to complete schoolwork and code/run large projects with no issue. Also ocassionally Steam for games. Your help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi all,

Im a sophomore and just began my MCAT studying and wanted to ask how much a high MCAT really helps a Low GPA? I go to Cornell University and my cumulative GPA is looking like it'll end close to a 3.5/6 with a science GPA of 3.3/4. I had a really rough first year in engineering but it's been going a lot better this year. I always hear MCAT can partially help, but to what extent?

Yall's help would be greatly appreciated!
