SSW student placement

I understand this is a sw sub, however I can’t find any specific sub for my SSW diploma program.

For my second year placement there is an opportunity with the Alzheimer’s Society. I have not previously worked with senior populations and I am curious to gain some insight as to what an emotional support system may look like in this environment as a student.

The website is quite broad, if anyone could share some experiences from a related placement or job that would be extremely helpful. I have concern regarding the overlap of skills required in the psw program- aka, should I expect in this environment to be more concerned with the skills they expect of psw students or staff?

I’ve inspected my pirate glass revealing the true colours underneath! Ontario, Lake Erie.

I made a post yesterday that leaned me into further investing some of my pieces I found many years ago that were just appearing black.

Any beach glass hunter knows the anticipation to find their first red piece… do you think the triangular piece is truly red pirate glass?

What colour is my piece of sea glass?

I found this many years ago, I still remember my mom telling me I was crazy for holding onto it in my collection as it was “clearly just a rock” lol.

I can’t figure if this is olive green, yellow, or amber?

Edit: Olive green pirate glass! Lake Erie, Ontario.

OSAP DVF for ADHD application recalculated my total funding +184$?

I understand to take the web with a grain of salt, however when I searched ballpark what I may receive as a result of submitting a DVF with ADHD in my OSAP application, it stated its would increase my total funding by around 4k. My funding was recalculated when I submitted my DVF and increased my total funding by 184$? And I paid 60$ for my doctor to fill it out. The 184$ is split between grant and loan as well which I found odd.

The message I have currently is- Your OSAP funding has been calculated and details are available about the total amount of your funding and the dates when payments will be made.

I realize some things have changed this year with OSAP, I’d just like to see if others relate?

Anyone with adhd have experience with high sensitivity to stimulant medication?

I’ve had the longest 4 days of my life (started Vyvanse 4 days ago)- having adhd symptom relief alongside the most disgusting and unmanageable symptoms on 10mg of Vyvanse.

I’m finally realizing today how exhausting it was to fight for my mind to remain clear, to actually be able to listen to anything but my own clustered thoughts. I couldn’t do the gymnastics anymore with a consistent migraine, paranoia, depleted energy and much more.

Has anyone gone through this? Can you please explain what aided you after realizing the stimulants didn’t agree with you.

New to stimulant medication

I started Vyvanse just this week, and it’s only 10mg.

I’m 24F, and my previous experience with meds was only birth control and an antidepressant. I’m currently feeling more cluster brained than ever just trying to calculate how and when to use this medication!

I’m a coffee drinker, one cup every morning. I’ve been trying my best to hold off on the caffeine until later on in the day but the headaches get unbearable. All I’m hearing is the experience of people who cut caffeine over time; is this commonly an expectation for long term use?

My pulse becoming *noticeable* at the end of everyday makes me very uncomfortable… does this always happen or is this a side effect because it’s new to my body?

Starting first ADHD med

This is very new, I’m only day 2 on the lowest dose of Vyvanse (10 mg). The side effects are terrible, but I don’t understand if that will improve over time, if it’s not agreeing with me, or too low of a dose.

I instantly get heavy headedness and headaches after it kicks in. I’m not having my morning coffee so I have caffeine headaches later on in the day.

Yesterday I fell asleep 2 hours after taking it for 20 minutes. Today I felt drowsy an hour after but picked myself up to work on what I had planned and with that force; I felt my reading and comprehension improve.

Last night my heart rate was causing panic, and the heated blanket that usually comforts me had to get off. Took me about an hour longer to fall asleep than usual.

I’m just looking for advice. My internal reassurance currently tells me that I should give it a fair shot and keep trying. But my resistance says I’m punishing myself to change my entire routine and comfort and it’s not worth it.
