Documents not approved yet

Hey all! First time applicant, applied within a week of the fall window opening and my application still hasn’t moved. 3/5 documents approved, still waiting on spouse CRA assessment and marital status affidavit, with no updates since June 22nd. Is this a normal timeframe or should I start sweating?

When to Apply for Winter 2027 Semester

Hello, I’m not sure who to ask or what to do in this situation. I will only be in school starting ( January) Winter 2027 semester but not the ( September ) Fall 2026 semester. When should I apply for Osap? I don’t want to be late and miss my application. Any help or info will be useful. Thank you

Questions about OSAP.

Hello.

When applying for OSAP, is it each year?

Program is 18months long condensed.

Sept 8 2026, ends April 2028.

Cost is 54k all in.

Did the estimate, who knows more or less. Is 33500. (6300) grants, rest loan it spit out.

This was for 52 weeks.

Question is do I reapply for the remaining 8 months again?

And when? Would that give me more OSAP to pay for the 8months? Or is the 33500 supposed to be all I get. Thanks, any help

Switching Schools + OSAP (advice needed and questions) pls help!

Hey everyone!

I'm an undergraduate student who originally accepted my OCAD University offer for Industrial Design. After doing more research, I realized Sheridan's Industrial Design program seems like a much better fit for me, so I decided I want to switch.
The problem is that I had already declined Sheridan's offer when I accepted OCAD's. And it’s already the first month of summer break. A couple of days ago, I called Sheridan because I noticed that on the Ontario Colleges portal, my offer still said **"May still take offers after May 1st."**They told me to accept it, which I did, and they said to wait for further emails.

Right now, I'm just not sure how I can confirm that I'm officially going to Sheridan this fall. I haven't received a confirmation yet, although Sheridan has already emailed me about paying tuition and the admission fee.

I'm also confused about OSAP. I already applied for OSAP with OCAD. If I end up attending Sheridan instead, do I need to cancel my OCAD OSAP application and submit a new one for Sheridan? Or can it be updated? I don't want my funding to go to the wrong school.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? If so, what did you do, and how did everything turn out?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It says I have already applied, but I haven’t

I’m trying to apply for OSAP for my first year but it’s saying that I have already made an application to the same program, but I didn’t. What should I do?

Got less funding this year

Last year I got 2.6k in loans with a 3k scholarship and a higher combined income from my parents. However, this year I got 2.2k with no scholarships and a lower combined income. Why is this? Everything else is the same, btw.

Does credit card debt affect funding?

I always get my funding calculated like 2 days after applying, but I never had any debt. This time I have some debt and I’ve yet to get my funding calculated. Could this be related to my cc debt??

OSAP Eligibility

I have lived in Ontario my whole life and am heading into my third year of University.

My parents are separated so I only report my father’s income and use his information as that’s who I primarily lived with during high school.

Now my father wants to move out province and I would primarily live with my mom (if I am to go home), but she has lived in BC for the last 2 years.

I am a bit lost if I am still eligible for OSAP. Since high school I have also lived by myself, not my parents.

When did "get a job" stop being the answer to not getting enough OSAP?

As a younger millennial who went to university fresh out of highschool and has now returned as a mature student, I'm not understanding all these posts about not knowing what to do because people aren't getting enough funding.

Not to be like back in my day, but back in my day everyone I knew (myself included) , knew if you didn't get enough funding or if you wanted spending money, you got a job. I was in the same situation as most of these posts when I first went to school, my parents income was too high but couldn't contribute, so funding only covered like half my tuition and residence, so I got a job and worked 25 hours a week. Yes it was hard doing school full time and working so much, but you make do and tough it out. And I know the job market is ridiculous right now, I have a niece and nephews just about leaving highschool and they tell me how difficult it is, but these posts aren't saying I'm not getting enough funding and I can't find a job to cover the rest. I'm not sure if I'm just part of a different generation, but there weren't that many students I knew that didn't work in some kind of way during school.

Opening RESP for myself before applying to OSAP

I have 13k savings which will ilimit my OSAP grant money. I am unable to work right now so I could potentially qualify for more grant money and I could really use it.

Would it be bad to open a RESP and put 10k in it before applying for OSAP as I know RESPs do not have to be reported. I would just have to be sure I could get my money out. I am an adult going back to school in ontario thanks

dropped my summer course

I only took one course during the summer semester, and I ended up dropping it because it was absolutely tanking my GPA.
Tbh I paid the tuition before I even applied for OSAP for the summer. Now I’m wondering what happens since I withdrew and I’m no longer taking any classes this semester.
Will I have to pay the grant back, or does it just get converted into a loan? Does this affect my Fall semester full time OSAP application or academic probation? I’m in Ontario if that makes a difference.

Says my MSFAA is still required even though I already made the account?

I made the account last Sunday and I got to the screen where it said no further action is required but it still says my MSFAA is required, I linked it with my bank and everything so why does it still say I need to do it?

OSAP closed my application due to "Student Plus One"

I’m a York/Lassonde Engineering student and I just got my OSAP application closed for Fall 2026 because apparently I reached the maximum number of study periods for my program.

The message says:

>“You have received funding for the maximum number of study periods for your program and are ineligible for further full-time OSAP effective Fall 2026.”

Basically, they are applying the “program length plus one” rule. Since Engineering is treated as an 8-term / 4-year program, they say I can only get 10 terms of full-time OSAP.

The problem is that this rule makes no sense for my situation. I live on my own, pay my own rent, food, bills, everything. My parents do not support me financially. I have had to work while studying just to survive, which is exactly why I usually took 4 courses instead of 5. But because 60%+ course load still counts as full-time for OSAP, every term counted the same as if I was taking 100% course load.

So now I am being punished for not being able to take a full 100% load while also supporting myself.

I also had serious personal circumstances during these years, including a stalking situation and deaths in my family, which affected my ability to overload myself academically. I was not dragging school out for fun. I was literally trying to stay enrolled while working and living independently.

Another issue is that I changed programs from Software Engineering to Mechatronics Engineering. I want to check whether York/OSAP counted my study periods correctly after that program change, because many of the courses I now need for Mechatronics would not have counted the same way if I had stayed in Software.

My friend switched from Mechanical to Software Engineering and he is in his 8th year here. He is still receiving OSAP despite the switch, and is way above the 10 term limit that I was recently informed about. I heard the amount of credits transferred after the switch affects the decision but I have not confirmed this information yet.

I already spoke to someone from OSAP/York and they basically told me there is no appeal unless I have a disability, which I do not. They said once the decision is final, there is no appeal.

So my questions are:

Has anyone dealt with this Study Periods + One rule before?

If you changed engineering programs, did your OSAP terms reset or did they keep counting everything together?

Is there any actual way to challenge this, or at least request a review of how they counted my program change?

Would going to Bennett Centre (York's OSAP staff advisors) and asking for a term-by-term breakdown help?

Would a student line of credit basically be my only option now?

I am not trying to dodge responsibility. I am trying to finish my engineering degree. I just do not understand how they can base the program length on a 100% course load, but then count my 80% terms the exact same, when the whole reason I could not take 100% was because I had to work to support myself.

Concern regarding additional document processing time

Hi everyone,
I have submitted my OSAP application at the beginning of June and have gotten most of my documents approved as well as got the estimated funding and release time. However, upon further inspecting I have realized I forgot to submit an additional document regarding parent income verification. It honestly completely slipped my mind to upload it alongside the signed form, so the fault is on me it was a pretty careless mistake. I will submit this additional document as soon as possible (mid next week). However, I am concerned that my document will not be approved in time to defer fees. This is the only document I am still awaiting approval on. Can I expect it to get approved before August 18th (the registration deadline)? Would it also be possible to contact my financial aid office for any extra assistance in this case? I have already contacted my uni office and am awaiting a response, but I still want to hear what anyone here has to say in case someone has been in a similar situation? :,)

OSAP Funding

So my osap funding just released and it says I’m eligible for around $6k. I am joining Westerns computer science program this fall, when I checked online it says the tuition is $8k what do I do? Isn’t the funding supposed to cover the entire school year??? Where would I get the $2k from? Or who do I contact about this? It just doesn’t feel right.

Funding calculated today. Is this the final amount I will be getting for 2026-27?

Hi, im a full time student at Western who is going into 3rd year for Economics. I had submitted my OSAP application on June 27th. I got an early estimate (which always is very low compared to what they actually give), but today I got a new notification saying my funding has been calculated. It is the exact same amount (only about 1000 dollars), and only loans. Is there any possibility this will change or is this likely going to be the only aid I get from OSAP?

When I checked the message it said funding calculated based on June 30th, not today's date.
