Best spots for reading

Hi all! I am new to MK (moved in June) and was just trying to find nice locations where my husband and I could sit and read, particularly coffee shops with comfortable seating but any other suggestion would be great!

Thank you all for your suggestions 😁

Gigaclear or Sky?

Hi all, my husband and I just moved to the Wavendon area and tried to get Fibre with sky however the property were on doesn't have open reach installation and the soonest one won't be until August 4th.

That being said we got a mailer from Gigaclear that their Fibre is already in the property and that in two days we could be plugged back in.

As someone who's never lived in the UK before I have no clue which company is better/reliable, any recommendations on which one to go for?

Thank you all!

Best ways to keep informed

Hi all! I am moving to the MK area next week and i was wondering what social media accounts you follow or newsletters you suggest to keep up with local news for safety and just general awareness. I'll be living in Wavendon (just in case it makes a diffetence).

Thank you all for your help!

Edit: seeking official accounts that would be useful for verifiable information.

Some questions about MK

Hi all! I made a post about potentially moving to MK recently, I just went there to view some houses and there are so many lovely areas! We went to a couple of pubs and hung out at one of the parks.

Now that we are more seriously thinking about moving there we have come up against these questions, hopefully you can give me a hand 😅

  1. Where is 1gb internet available? (We fell in love with a house but seems that Wavendon doesn't get that type of access, we are also doing our own research but if you live in an area that has access that would help us narrow it down a bit)

  2. Phone carriers: We both have EE currently but had extremely spotty service while going around, any suggestions of carriers with better signal?

  3. How trustworthy is the fast train to London?

My husband and I will be working hybrid and so we need really fast access to the internet, particularly for his work and we will be commuting to London 2-3 days a week.

Thank you all for any help you can provide!

Considering MK for relocation from abroad

Hi everyone,

After looking at cities and towns with good connections to London it would seem that MK is a clear contender, particularly due to the high availability of place for rent and how open they (seem to be) about leasing to people who have dogs.

My husband is 40 and I am 35 we have two miniature dachshunds and are trying to figure out which part of Milton Keynes would be the best to live in considering:

- Parks that allow dogs and/or dog park proximity

- Close enough to the central station or with good transport connections to it

- Safe (there is danger everywhere I do know that but it is hard to judge what truly dangerous parts of towns look like when you're from a completely different culture)

- If possible within walking distance of coffee shops / groceries / etc, or at least a short drive since we will have a car.

- Looking for a 3-4 bedroom property as we will be mostly working remotely.

I looked for posts on this but they seem to be from a few years ago!
Thank you all for your help!

Priority outside visa approved!

Hi all! This subreddit was my lifeline while I anxiously waited so I wanted to share with you all that we got an approval!

Here's our timeline:

Applied: April 22nd > priority from outside (USA)

Bio: April 24th

ECO: May 1st (received by lawyer)

Approval: June 1st (also received by lawyer) at 4:35 pm UK time

Approval received on working day 24

My application was straightforward (married for 10 years and have moved around the world together previously and visited the uk together multiple times throughout the years also my husband has a job transfer with his position starting next week!)

Thank you all for you help and good wishes and I hope everyone here will receive good news very soon! Best of luck to all!

Hi all!

I applied April 22 and had my bio April 24, outside priority application (Both my husband and I live in the US), I have not received an ECO email only from vfs stating they have forwarded my application but I believe I should also get one from UKVI. I know not everyone gets one but it's making me nervous lol.

Has anyone gotten ECO or any indication of their application moving along? I know it's early but I am pretty stressed and would like to commiserate with others 😭
