Any tips for McKinnon Flats?

Any tips for McKinnon Flats?

I plan on heading out there with my spinning rod and some smaller spoons, spinners, and a couple countdown rapala's. I've never fished too far outside of the city (I live in Calgary) and I'd like to know what to expect out there for anyone who's waded/fished either upstream or downstream of the boat launch. I've also heard that the gate entering the parking lot might be closed some times. Any tips are appreciated! Thank you.

Is 4 days into my 20mg titration period too soon to realize that I need a higher dose?

I got diagnosed for moderate ADHD, specifically inattentive ADHD. I was prescribed 20mg Vyvanse (I took name brand) and have been taking it every morning for the last 4 days right when I wake up.

I had an incredible first day, I had a quiet brain for the first time in my life. Ever since then, the effects are extremely subtle and barely noticeable. Today, I took my dose at 6:20am and fully crashed at 11am. This was with a protein-filled breakfast, tons of hydration, 8 hours of sleep, no acidic fluids/foods, etc.

I am wondering if 20mg is too low of a starting dose and if it's too early to contact my clinician to bump me up to 30mg. My next meeting with my clinician is on the 8th, and I don't see any point waiting and continuing 20mg if I feel that it can be bumped up.

No side effects, little anxiety, just incredibly short duration. I have pondered taking two pills or splitting a capsule to estimate 30mg but I don't feel that's necessary. Anyone felt the same?

Trout rejecting my flies - Bow River

#14-16 Parachute Adam’s and same size Caddis.

The trout were actively rising and slurping up flies and other things from the surface but ignoring my flies. I’m using 5X leader.

It’s my first time fly fishing the bow. I had a couple follows on my olive & black wooly buggers but I kept spooking them because I was close to shore.

I was able to cast some dry flies deeper into the water column and they were completely ignored. I saw a rainbow or two and a big brown that completely ignored my flies.

It came to the point where I was casting right where they were over and over again and every time my fly drifted over the fish, it completely ignored it. Just slowly gliding under it.

Any tips? It’s my first time fly fishing the bow so I might have some issues with my gear or technique.

How much money does Evan have, liquid?

I just had a lengthy conversation about this with my friends, one of which was a portfolio manager at a respectable firm. Most of us agreed that Evan probably, at any given moment, has 2-3 million cash that is liquid and easily accessible. My well-off friend put the range at 5-10 million through a mix of HYS accounts, market funds, and brokerage accounts that could be liquidated at any given moment.

We thought that 5-10 million was a crazy amount, but he argued that with his current estimated net worth and assuming he’s been smart with his money since the late 2010s - now, he probably has access to that amount of money at any given moment. That’s not considering his long term investments/business ventures.

What do you think?

Chestermere lake is pike city

Got there at around 8:45. Crazy amount of bites every few casts. Couple others around us catching pike every so often.

It’s a shame the area is so trashed due to the amount of activity. I’m surprised the fish still bite with how much it’s been fished.

Any restrictions regarding night-fishing for ES1 and PP1 lakes/rivers?

Hitting a lake tomorrow and doing Chestermere Lake on Friday, both after 8pm. I plan on using headlights to walk the lake and turning them off/using reds when actually fishing. I've scoured the regs and referred to previous restrictions (high temps, low water 2pm-midnight, July 1-Aug31) and there's nothing that prohibits or discourages fishing at dark.

Does anyone with experience with fishing after sunset have any tips or tricks regarding this?

First catch ever. Second time fishing, first time at the bow.

Fished for 3 1/2 hours before catching this big guy. I think it’s a brown trout. Caught him on a plfeuger medium light with a rapela countdown.

So happy we caught this. We didn’t think we’d catch anything at all, especially at our experience level.

Does anyone have any tips/gear that makes catching trout easier? Will definitely buy some waders for next trip.

Crashed Nissan R32 Skyline at Deerfoot City. Painful to see.

Even 500m away I could recognize that silhouette. Hopefully no one was hurt, although it was heartbreaking to see that car in that condition lol.
