Do you think we should have an AI policy here?

We the mod team think it might be good to have a rule about how AI can or cannot be used here. We understand AI can be helpful in content creation and are not against that, but think it’s important that if AI is used it should be disclosed. However we want to avoid having low effort, AI created posts here, especially if the post contains scripture as AI sometimes isn’t accurate and may get scripture wrong or give an inaccurate reference to where in the Bible the scriptures you used can be found. In an effort to create buy in and keep this sub reflecting the needs and wishes of its user base, we’ve created a poll. Please participate if you use this sub, we want to know what you think.

New Rules

1 Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

This means no transphobia, homophobia, gatekeeping, or discrimination of any kind. We do not tolerate disruptions or trolling, bad faith arguments, pot-stirring and drama, or using Scripture as a cudgel against LGBT+ people.

Not every person or denomination shares the same Scriptural interpretation as you, so do not be rude, unkind, snarky, harsh, or insulting just because you have a disagreement.

2 All Are Welcome

We appreciate diversity and do not discriminate based on trans/cis gender status, denomination, political affiliation or against non-Christians.

All gender identities/expressions and sexual orientations are welcome in the full life, ministry, and service of the Church. Side B folks are welcome here, but advocating the position that LGBT+ identities or relationships are inherently sinful is not allowed and will result in a content removal or ban.

3 Respect Identity & Privacy

Nobody should have to justify their identity here, and inappropriate questions about pronouns, genitals, race, age, location, etc. will be removed. Ask before you DM; inappropriate/trolling DMs reported to us will result in a ban.

Misgendering will not be tolerated. If someone has their pronouns listed in their flair or bio then use them; defaulting to "Universal They/Them" is not an acceptable alternative when pronouns are known.

4 Stay on Topic

Keep all posts related to some aspect of the experience of being Trans and/or Christian (preferably both), and try to keep all comments related to the post they are under. Please avoid posting just a wall of Scripture without any additional context; it is a more helpful response when you add your thoughts/reasoning for the citation.

Ask the Mods for permission to post surveys and research opportunities. No self-promotion (outside the official Mega Threads) or spam; if you are unsure if your post will be allowed, ask the Mods.

5 [Sample AI Policy, this may not be the final rule, under discussion]

You must when possible credit all artists, and you must disclose if anything you post or link here was made with AI. We generally discourage relying on AI to cite Scripture since it is prone to error.

6 Respect Reddit's Site Wide Content Policy

Announcing New Changes For This Sub

Hello everyone,

The mod team is changing again. We have added two new mods - you probably have seen them doing stuff here already. Please welcome u/dapple_dawn and u/darthalix314 to the mod team! Also, many thanks to u/dovestep55 for all of her work for the past nine months keeping things going during this time of "transition" (hehe) for the page! Dove is moving on to other things and will be missed.

Going forward we will be adding some changes here and there as time allows, the first of which is a change to our rules. We have changed and added some things for clarity's sake. Please take some time to read through them, they will be in a pinned post at the top of the page as well as in the sidebar as usual.

We are also hoping to add some resource and information wikis to make Christian trans resources and theology helps more easily accessible to our audience here. Speaking of which, feel free to comment here or message the mod team if you have favorite Christian trans and queer theology resources, or other trans-related resources you have found to be helpful. This will help us gather ideas and know what sorts of things our user base would find most helpful to their journey.

Additionally, keep an eye out for new mega-threads and polls to help us keep this sub updated and flourishing; we want to hear from you!

Thank you for journeying with us!

Blessings,

The mod team

Community Feedback Post

Hey everyone,

I'm posting this as a new mod in this group. Dovestep55 and I have been wondering what would you like to see more of in this space? Do you have suggestions for particular things you would find helpful to have here that we don't so far? We have lots of ideas we are hoping we can incorporate over time, but we wanted to check in with our user base to find out if there are specific things we could be doing to make this space better or more of a resource for the community. Let us know in the comments!

DAE feel like they hit a wall on their hormone part of transition?

Ok, that's probably a weird title and not quite what I mean. I'm 18 months on T and I've had a lot of positive changes: a nice voice drop, significant bottom growth, facial hair is still patchy, but coming in, and of course all the extra body hair (I trimmed it all off once and it looked like enough fur to cover a very small dog) some fat redistribution has occurred, but not nearly what I would like. I've always been very short and curvy and am still that way. I get misgendered 100% of the time out in public.

I think I know why I get misgendered. I'm very short, and although I bind most of the time, my hips are still curvy and my mannerisms are still feminine. I wear baggy clothes a lot, because it's either that or feminine clothes - it's hard to find men's in my size. Also, I have a bio three year old who is almost always with me. I don't grow my stubble out because I don't think it looks good at this point and it makes me feel self-conscious - mostly because I think I'd be perceived as a lady with facial hair. My voice is very low for a woman's but combined with all the other things about me perceived as feminine, it doesn't pass as a man's. I'm 95% sure I sound very clocky so even if I looked more masc, I don't think my voice would help with passing as it is right now.

Until recently, I used to live in the US in a rural part of a very red state. I would girl mode all the time there because it felt dangerous to do anything else. Where I am now is almost completely safe and accepting. I could girl mode less and it would be alright - the city where I live, nobody would look twice or care. I can get almost any gender affirming surgery I want. It would take time on the wait list, but it would happen and it would be covered by the government.

This is where I feel stuck. Although my body will probably continue to change with more hormones and time, some things will not unless I put in some effort. I still have some of the baby weight I gained during pregnancy. If I worked out regularly and ate better I could easily have better muscle definition and better fat distribution. If I started voice training, I could get my voice to where I want it pretty easily. If I paid attention to my mannerisms, those would change too, with time. But honestly, I think I'm afraid of passing. Not because I don't want to pass, I do want to pass and I am so tired of looking and feeling awkward. It would be so nice to look in the mirror and really see me. I'm afraid I won't like it no matter how well I pass.

I'm also nervous my partner won't like it. We've been together for 12 years and have a child together. I love him, and he's been very supportive. He says he is "probably bi" but doesn't like the label. So far, he hasn't found me unattractive and he's not really a boob guy so if I got top surgery it wouldn't bother him. We don't do piv sex, so bottom surgery wouldn't be a problem - at least he says it wouldn't be.

If I just put in the work, I might actually feel like myself and enjoy being me. Why is this so hard? I just feel so unmotivated.
