Friends

Where are y’all finding other single mom friends? Before I had my son I thought my other friends with kids would still be around now that I had my son, but that has not been the case. I am in desperate need of some other single mom friends because I cannot take the loneliness and isolation much longer honestly. I am such an extrovert and my mental health is definitely struggling with the lack of friendships/socialization I’m getting these days.

Dating

I’m going back and forth lately and need some advice. Is dating as a single parent worth it? I’ve been the child of a single parent who dated and got married, and it wasn’t great from my end. My stepdad is a jerk and alcoholic. We don’t get along very well to this day honestly. My mom wanted more kids so she settled with the first person who seemed decent enough to her.
I don’t want any more kids of my own, although I think I’d like to adopt one day. So dating isn’t for growing a family. I miss companionship and intimacy. I want a partner. But I’ve always hated dating, I’ve never had good luck with it. I’ve actually never even been in an actual relationship which is insane. So in some aspects it feels pointless and like it’s too late at this point. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

Solids question

My son just turned 1 a couple of weeks ago and has always done pretty well with solids. We started to try and reduce his milk intake and increase solids and it was going pretty well! I had gotten him down to three bottles a day (wake up, mid day, bedtime) and was also transitioning those bottles to almond milk instead of formula.
Well right after his birthday party a week and a half ago he got a little tummy bug, and didn’t want to eat solids during that which made perfect sense to me. The formula didn’t seem to upset his stomach as much, so that’s all he really wanted. Well he got through the bug and has been acting like he’s feeling better, but now doesn’t want any solids at all.
All the foods he enjoyed prior to the bug he won’t eat, he won’t eat his puffs, and sometimes he won’t even eat his top favorites of yogurt and oatmeal. He just wants milk.
I don’t really know what to do here. Is this normal for his age? How do I promote eating the solids again? He won’t eat solids really at daycare either and they have expressed concerns as well since he has always been SUCH a good eater.

How are y’all surviving?

Hello all, I’m about to start year 6 of teaching and have a newly one year old son. I am also a single mom, who lives with my parents. As a single woman before having my son, my teaching salary didn’t seem that big of a deal. I could afford my share of rent, could pay my bills, could spend some money on fun, and put some in savings. This year I’ll be making more than I have previously (around 54k) but in no world can I ever move out of my parent’s house now that I’m a single mom. How are y’all making ends meet? I so badly want to get a place of our own (our living situation here isn’t always the best) but it seems absolutely impossible. I love being a teacher so much, and I cannot imagine ever doing anything else, but how do I make my life work when my job doesn’t give me enough to support myself?
