Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Full Ingame Soundtrack (HQ)

Hello guys! 😁

I’d like to share the result of one of my latest projects with you.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent was a defining game not only for me, but for an entire generation of horror fans back in 2010. It terrified people in a way very few games ever had before. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible, constantly keeping the player in a state of tension and uncertainty.

One of the things that elevated the experience the most for me - and something I still clearly remember from the very first time my friends and I played the game together - was the music. It fits the oppressive atmosphere perfectly and maintains the tension even when there are no monsters nearby. The soundtrack constantly makes you feel unsafe, and in my opinion, that is one of the reasons why Amnesia became such an unforgettable experience.

For years, I wanted to properly listen to the in-game music outside of the game itself. One of my personal favorites, the “Brute Danger” cue, was especially difficult to find in good quality. After gaining a lot of experience from my previous soundtrack reconstruction projects, I finally decided to create this album myself.

For this project, I used the original .ogg audio files directly from the game, which allowed me to preserve the music in the highest quality possible. Compared to the heavily layered and dynamically structured music systems of Alien: Isolation and Dead Space, working with Amnesia’s soundtrack was surprisingly straightforward. Most of the music is relatively linear and much easier to reconstruct accurately, which made the editing process significantly more manageable.

Despite this simpler structure, the soundtrack itself is incredibly effective. Mikko Tarmia’s work captures psychological horror perfectly, balancing ambient dread, sudden intensity and emotional hopelessness in a way that still feels unique today.

The album is arranged in chronological order based on how the music appears throughout the game. Repeating ambient or recurring musical sequences are only included once in order to keep the listening experience cleaner and more natural.

I truly hope you’ll enjoy listening to this project as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
Thank you very much for listening! ❤️

Hello guys! 😁

I’m incredibly happy to finally share this project with you and with it, I can officially say that I’ve completed the entire Dead Space trilogy.

With this release, the in-game soundtrack albums for all three Dead Space titles are now fully reconstructed. This means a lot to me personally, and honestly, it’s been an amazing journey from start to finish.

I have to admit, Dead Space 3 was never my favorite entry in the series. It moved away from the pure horror atmosphere that made the earlier games so special to me. However, revisiting the game with a strong focus on its music gave me a completely new perspective. I now appreciate it much more, in fact, I believe this is the most emotional installment of the trilogy, and the music plays a huge role in that.

The soundtrack was composed by both Jason Graves and James Hannigan. Graves once again handled the horror-focused material, while Hannigan contributed the more melodic, emotional pieces. The contrast between their styles is clearly noticeable, and personally, I found the more emotional tracks especially powerful.

From a technical standpoint, Dead Space 3 reuses a significant amount of musical material from the previous two games. Many cues return in different forms, often not in their full structure. In some cases, only certain layers are used. For example, an ambient layer might play without its corresponding combat or chase layers. Just like in the earlier titles, the music system is built on a layered structure, dynamically adapting to gameplay.

One important difference, however, is the audio system itself. Dead Space 3 uses a more aggressive compression and streaming approach compared to the first two games. This was likely done to optimize performance and memory usage, especially given the larger scale of environments and more complex real-time audio layering. As a result, the in-game music assets are more heavily compressed, which unfortunately prevents them from reaching the same audio quality as in Dead Space 1 and 2.

A standalone official soundtrack was also released for the game, but it does not include all musical segments, and many tracks were re-mastered or altered. Because of this, the most complete and authentic versions of the music are still the ones extracted directly from the game.

I did everything I could to preserve the music in a way that stays true to how it is heard in-game. Since many cues originate from the earlier titles, I chose to reuse those from my previous albums in their higher quality versions. This hybrid approach felt like the best possible solution to maintain both authenticity and audio quality.

The album is arranged in chronological order. However, similarly to my previous projects, recurring or randomly triggered musical groups are only included once, labeled as “Sequences.” All other dedicated and story-specific cues follow the timeline of the game.

I truly hope you’ll enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed putting it together. I’m very proud of the final result. I feel like I brought out everything that was possible from this material.
