Where do I start?

Want to start playing the games, but I've heard people say there's multiple places to start? Most people said start with The Dark Descent, but I've also heard someone say Penumbra is the place to start. Another person said to start with Machine For Pigs because it's the "least scary" (I don't do amazing with horror but I've been trying to branch out)

This is going to sound dumb but, is there a mod to make the creature in dark descent look more scary?

Hey guys, I just got the game and it's really fun but one thing that's kind of bringing me out of it is that creature. The creature. You know the one. If I'm being honest, to me it looks goofy instead of scary and it kind of brings me out of it. So are there any mods that you can recommend that change that monster into something just a bit more frightening? Or maybe something that doesn't even completely change what it looks like but alters it enough where it keeps the spirit of it but looking less goofy? IDK why, the face is just too cartoony looking for me and it kills it.

How to know Amnesia's true gods?

So in Amnesia lore, Earth Religions are either heavily influenced by Otherworlder activity, or just myth, but although Amnesia has stuff like ancient advanced civilizations, alien technology, etc, there is still a long-standing belief that Supernatural or Eldritch elements do exist in Amnesia, this heavily implies that gods, goddesses, or something similar does exist in The Amnesia Universe, but at the same time, how could future Amnesia games or short stories explore them further without it being out of place?

Millennia Between Them

Don't want this to cross into self-promotion (as per the rules), but something I got done for a story of mine involving our man Henri and an... Unlikely companion he picked up down in those Roman tunnels.

(Please ignore how utterly insane this looks & sounds)

Anyone else relate to this feeling?

I've played all frictional games up until rebirth and all of the games, soma, penumbra and the older amnesia games feel like I'm playing a living poem as a video game, I'm not a big fan of poetry but these games feel like poetry to me, thats all I'd like to hear yalls opinions

Could Amnesia Continue?

SPOILER ALERT.

We know that the "Other World" was once a civilization that was completely destroyed after the spread of the Shadow, thankfully due to Kita's murdering attempt on Tihana. His reasons were obvious: he wanted to end the suffering of the living beings that were being subjected to study and vitae extraction.

Since the world collapsed, along with the civilization as it was, the only things that would continue are the Harvesters and the liquid that infects humans and turns them into monsters.

In other words, no factories, no portals, no new facilities etc etc. would be build, cause their world is DEAD.

What do you think? Is it possible a continuation ?

Confused on the endings + amnesia the dark descent is an amazing game

Okay so I originally got the good ending where I put apiggas head inside the portal but I have no idea what happened afterwards did Alex and Daniel die ? It looked like Daniel was in another dimension or in the afterlife or something

But yeah first time me playing a amnesia game and I gotta say this was one of the best horror games I’ve ever played I loved every moment of it from the characters to the atmosphere to the enemies to the story/lore I gotta say the game reminded me of outlast towards the end with the naked bodies and all the violence lol

My only complaint is most the puzzles take me out the experience a little bit this game is super old school it doesnt handhold you at all you gotta figure things out on your own it’s a skill issue on my part some of the puzzles were alot of fun and others were frustrating like the part where you need to lower the 2 bridges and drain the water to the sewer I spent 3 hours on that part 💀

Should I play amnesia machine of pigs next?

Crazy Amnesia Theory:Allah is an otherworlder in The Amnesia Universe.

(NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO OFFEND/INSULT MUSLIMS OR ANY RACE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, PEOPLE WHO KNOW ME PERSONALLY MAY KNOW I HAVE BEEF WITH SOME MUSLIM INDIVIDUALS, BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU, I GENUINELY HAVE NO HOSTILE INTENTION WITH THIS THEORY)
(WARNING: I MIGHT HAVE INNACURACIES, MISTAKES OR MISPELLINGS, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH)

Sorry for that, people i am in not so good terms with some individuals, they type of person who stalks social media accounts and interprets every known thing you've done as a deliberate attempt of offending them, seriously tho, imagine correcting someone in a facebook comment section, only for some dude you have beef with to SOMEHOW find it, and screenshot it, and then publicly accusing you of being an online bully, BECAUSE APPARENTLY, YOU WEREN'T GENTLE IN YOUR "TONE" OF CORRECTING THEM.

"YEah, YOu'rE riGHt, bUt YOu ShOUld've bEEn niCeR aboUT iT"
And you put an apology in the packaging of meat products intended for vegans to apologize for the product not being vegan.

Sorry for that, really, i shouldn't be including these long intros gushing about my semi-personal life.

Ok, so in Remember (The TDD book you can apparently find a digital copy of in the game files) we have a character named Faraj, who makes an appearance in "Old Friends", which is Chronologically the third story to take place in the list of short stories, now, Faraj and Herbert are Old Friends (Ba-dum-tuss) and haven't seen eachother in years, being friends from the university they studied in, now, Faraj has acquired notes by Johann Weyer himself and he mentions how, and i quote: "They talk of God like he was a normal man! don't you want to converse with the Almighty?" now, to assume that this implies that Faraj is referring to The Christian God has several problems.

Firstly, in French Algeria (Algeria was a French Colony during 1839, this is actually a plot point that got Faraj killed, as he was shot by Captain Ambroise's men in a rebel uprising)
Christianity was MAD unpopular with the Algerian population, who were devoutly Muslim, and any Algerian who showed even little interest in Christianity got socially ostracized, and persecuted, and The French Colonial Government were AGAINST Christian Algerians, because they feared that if any Algerians converted to Christ, they'd trigger a Jihad among the native Muslim Population, so they actually opposed any attempts to convert Muslims to Christianity, and any native Algerians who converted.

Secondly, using "God" to describe The Muslim Allah is actually really common, even in modern times, "God" is used to describe Allah by Muslims, Allah is literally the Arabic word for God, so for English-Speaking Muslims to use it to describe Allah is actually pretty common.

Thirdly, some people point to how Faraj and Herbert apparently met in the University they studied in, however, given how there were NO Western style educational efforts beyond primary and basic education in Algeria in this Era during and before 1839, as Pre-Occupation Algeria was full of Islamic Schools and Universities, which The French Destroyed, and while obviously, Faraj and Herbert were University Students before 1830 (When The French Arrived), but it still wouldn't make sense, as Herbert is British, and both Faraj and Herbert are English Speakers, it would make more sense that Faraj and Herbert studied in The UK rather than the other way around, plus, Old Friends repeatedly mentions how Herbert's Religious life was mainly learning about Protestantism from "The Church Of England", heavily implying Herbert grew up Protestant rather than Muslim.

Now, on the topic of Johann Weyer writing those notes, Faraj appears to venerate "God" when he talks of Johann Weyer's notes on him, once again, there's a very low chance Faraj was referring to the Christian God, and we do know that Johann Weyer and Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa weren't Christians, as they both were more welcoming of unorthodox ideas (i mean, they deal with The Shadow, Orbs, and Vitae) and In TDD, Agrippa actively endorses Mithraism, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume they would be comfortable with talking about Allah or any other religions with comfort, and with Johann Weyer referring to Allah using the word "God".

Now, this is where i MIGHT genuinely offend someone, so in Islam, Allah resides in The Mecca physically, and has miracles done either through his Angels or Physical Objects (i.e. Moses' staff, Joseph's Shirt) nearby, this is very akin to modern humans or the member of a technologically advanced being able to display their technological prowess through the use of drones (Angels) or machines (Objects) similar to how we used holographic drones to mess with Tribes in The Amazon Rainforest, not only that, Muslims claim that The Torah is canon to Islam, this actually explains how God in Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy appears to have advanced knowledge on Biology (Laws on cleanliness, Feces) Genetics (Leviticus 18 discourages incest, which leads to inbreeding) and can craft complex laws, and punishment and fines for various immoralities.

So yeah, my theory is that Allah is an Otherworlder in The Amnesia Universe, thanks for reading.

TLDR: Islam's Allah is an Otherworlder in The Amnesia Universe, and his supernatural miracles are actually just alien tech.

(I SUCK at writing down my sources, so please correct me if i messed this part up.)

Edit 1: So correction, it's Ka'bah, not Mecca

Edit 2: So correction, it turns out, Allah residing in The Ka'bah is actually just very symbolic, but he doesn't literally reside in it, my bad, guys special thanks to u/Xenshid for correcting me.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Full Ingame Soundtrack (HQ)

Hello guys! 😁

I’d like to share the result of one of my latest projects with you.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent was a defining game not only for me, but for an entire generation of horror fans back in 2010. It terrified people in a way very few games ever had before. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible, constantly keeping the player in a state of tension and uncertainty.

One of the things that elevated the experience the most for me - and something I still clearly remember from the very first time my friends and I played the game together - was the music. It fits the oppressive atmosphere perfectly and maintains the tension even when there are no monsters nearby. The soundtrack constantly makes you feel unsafe, and in my opinion, that is one of the reasons why Amnesia became such an unforgettable experience.

For years, I wanted to properly listen to the in-game music outside of the game itself. One of my personal favorites, the “Brute Danger” cue, was especially difficult to find in good quality. After gaining a lot of experience from my previous soundtrack reconstruction projects, I finally decided to create this album myself.

For this project, I used the original .ogg audio files directly from the game, which allowed me to preserve the music in the highest quality possible. Compared to the heavily layered and dynamically structured music systems of Alien: Isolation and Dead Space, working with Amnesia’s soundtrack was surprisingly straightforward. Most of the music is relatively linear and much easier to reconstruct accurately, which made the editing process significantly more manageable.

Despite this simpler structure, the soundtrack itself is incredibly effective. Mikko Tarmia’s work captures psychological horror perfectly, balancing ambient dread, sudden intensity and emotional hopelessness in a way that still feels unique today.

The album is arranged in chronological order based on how the music appears throughout the game. Repeating ambient or recurring musical sequences are only included once in order to keep the listening experience cleaner and more natural.

I truly hope you’ll enjoy listening to this project as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
Thank you very much for listening! ❤️

Rats on the Bunker are Broken

I played Amnesia the Bunker back in 2023 and loved it. Played it again a few months back and then went back right now to mop up the trophies. And I've noticed that for some reason after my first playthrough the Rats are just broken. They never attack me. Even when setting the custom difficulty up and putting there aggression to high, they never attack me. I've walked by them when injured and bleeding. Even walked over them, and still nothing. Even on my Shell Shock playthrough nothing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game like 4 times. Deleted my saves and nothing. Has anyone else had this issue? And if so do you know how to fix it?

amnesia NEEDS breaks

I find fatigue to be the absolutely number one main reason that i die, around an hour is where I can start to see the sloppy gameplay and damage increase.

"You should have expected it, it's an amnesia evil run."

There is literally no way anyone should be shooting rats for 60 seconds straight, especially AMNESIA dude, blasting music w full dopamine rush.

People start to complain, and lots of devs don't care or balance change> then they complain when the people can't survive for a grunt and they have a skill issue> then the fandom is just constantly just a hair away from dying again> no fun, it's just the same thing again and again and again.
