Minifreak microphone screws onto device

So errrrr, the Minifreak microphone (included in vocoder edition or available separately) actually screws right on. There's threads just besides the power switch on the corner. Why haven't I made the connection before? Lol.

Just screw off the actual mic holder from the base plate, and onto the Minifreak. 2mm hex screws. Et voilà! Much better angle and reach, especially when you're using an angled stand.

Ah, the old behemoth. Been sitting in the corner for over 10 years. Powers on, displays show hieroglyphs, controls don't react. No sound.

Already found a few resources including service manual. Will be quite the project I guess; checking PSU seems obvious starting point. I expect labour and difficulty though. 😂 But will be worth it. The filters sound glorious, proprietary Korg NJM2069 24dB/oct VCF and VCA, also used in DW-6000, Poly-800, DSS-1.

A few little mods I had made back then:

- Replaced sucky 2-pole power socket by standard IEC. No more searching for that one power cable

- Big backup battery. Still shows 3.63V after all this time.

- Waveform EPROM sockets installed. The waves are plain 8bit PCM in a rather simple multisample format, easy to replace. Korg used some interpolation method for generating these; can't replicate so replacement waves sound rather gritty. Not bad! 😂

When it still worked. And a little jam:

Hell yeah. I need that sound in my life again!

I have a degree in electronics but very limited repair experience. This won't be easy, wish me luck!

Seller seriously wants 750 for this... with a few encoders with jumpy parameters, and loose power contact.

I'm tempted to drive all the way to Berlin just to whack him over the head!
