Backlash for courthouse wedding before destination wedding?

Did you get any backlash from friends/family/husbands family for getting legally married at the courthouse before your destination wedding?

I feel like some people might not understand why a legal courthouse “wedding” needs to be done before the symbolic destination wedding.

Mother of the bride and mother of the groom wearing same color as the bridesmaids

My mom wants to wear the same color as my bridesmaids (black) she’s done so much for me in my life and for this wedding so I can’t really say no but she brought up a good point that my dad and my fiancés dad will be wearing black suits most likely so that it only makes sense if my fiancés mom also wears a black dress (so she doesn’t feel left out but also so when we do the parents picture it all matches)

Future MIL doesn’t seem to keen on wearing the same color as my bridesmaids……. I guess she’s worried about looking like a bridesmaid? I’m not sure if it’s just that or if she doesn’t wanna wear black.

I really don’t want to be a bridezilla lol but what would you do in this situation? Let her wear whatever? Or still try to encourage a black dress?

I feel silly typing this

On one hand I agree black would look better on the other hand is this the hill I wanna die on with future MIL?

How to deal with verbal RSVPs?

We’re doing a destination wedding in April 2027 and our RSVP deadline is September 1st 2026.

I know people still have a lot of time to RSVP yes or no and book their room.

However, some people have verbally told us they aren’t attending but also haven’t gone onto the website to RSVP no……. It’s on their invitation.

Do I RSVP no for them as soon as they verbally say it?

Do I wait for them to RSVP themselves?

Do I just keep track of everyone who verbally said no and RSVP no for them on September 2nd?

Also why do people verbally say no but then never rsvp? It’s annoying lol

EDIT: for those asking the RSVP deadline and $50 deposit is September 1st because final payments are due November 1st and this gives people time to still rsvp and pay their deposit if they miss the deadline since so many people do miss deadlines and we have to close our room block on November 1st per the hotels policy not our policy. We were advised to make that gap because people always rsvp and book late. If we put our true deadline of November 1st we would have to deny people that want to come afterwards.

****if getting married on the date of your symbolic wedding ceremony is not an option.
