Am I wrong for thinking my friend should have helped clean up after her child got sick in public?

O.K. This is a situation when I can really see both sides, but I want to see how off base I might be. This kind of think happens fairly frequently so I'm guessing there will be strong feelings. Anyway, my friend and her daughter took a few days and visited a hot springs near where I live. When the daughter got out of the hot springs at one point, she felt nauseous and threw up on the deck. The worker there told her "Oh, it'll just wash off" meaning he wanted my friend to clean it. She IMMEDIATELY got pissed off and was like "Sir, I don't work here, don't know where the hose is, and have an ill child," and kind of just peaced out. If it were me, I think I would have taken care of my daughter and then helped because I've been on the employee side of that equation before.

That situation was obviously no one's fault and if the daughter had purposefully made a mess, I would have very strong opinions.

That being said, I also know that working retail, I have cleaned bathrooms that were gross and have hosed and wiped things down after sick people and kids. What do you think? Am I wrong in my thinking?

Disruptive students affect their classmates long term for life.

Every year I kind of grind my teeth during state testing because all of a sudden, admin knows how to protect the learning environment and everyone is on the same page. Disruptions are removed from the classroom because the learning environment is now sacrosanct. That is why I get so upset with one student being able to derail an entire class.

And, it's not my imagination either. Recent research really does show that disruptive students greatly impact their peers and that disruption follows their peers for life. Here's a short article so lurkers don't think I'm making this up: https://fordhaminstitute.org/national/commentary/long-term-effects-disruptive-peers

Here is another actual research paper published in 2018. The above link is basically a summary of another paper: https://faculty.econ.ucdavis.edu/faculty/scarrell/DV_Long-run.pdf

Teachers know this information already, but even I was shocked at how far reaching the effects are. Essentially, a lot of it can be boiled down to a trauma response. It's wild how nonchalant a lot of admin, parents, and society and general have become regarding student behavior.

Looking for an older Harlequin Presents HELP!

O.K., this is driving me insane. I literally have thousands of books on my kindle, and just cannot track this one down:

*Possible* Author: Violet Winspear (or one of her contemporaries)

Setting: Mexico

Plot (as well as I can remember): O.K., the MFC is from the U.S. and her roommate (?) is from Mexico and is promised to a hot shot back home, but is in love with her boyfriend fiancee and doesn't want to return. She is afraid if she goes back she won't be able to leave. She begs the MFC to go to Mexico and basically break up with the MMC for her.

The MFC goes to Mexico to talk to the MMC and tell him his arranged fiancee can't/won't marry him. He is enraged and basically blackmails/refuses to let MFC leave and takes her as his bride instead. It takes her a while to adjust and she is obviously lonely.

There is a kind of OW, but the MMC isn't really interested. She is a neighbor or cousin and loves to just sow discord. At one point, the MMC gives the MFC a piece of jewlery (a butterfly pin I believe). There is a worker/relative of OW (forget the exact relationship) that is creeping on the MFC and wants to get her alone. The creepy wanna be OM and OW work together to set the MFC up. They tell the MFC to meet the MMC at a cabin in the woods. She goes, but it's the creepy OM who is really going to meet her there. However, something happens and I think he falls off a horse and breaks a bone so doesn't make it. However, the MMC finds out where the MFC is and things she is cheating. He books it to the cabin and is furious with the MFC and rapes her. And no, it's not a BBS type of rape or 'forced seduction.' It's non-con and rape and is presented as such. The MFC is, of course, a virgin. The MMC is horrified and takes her back to the hacienda. He lights into the OW. I believe the wanna be OM has run away at this point. The OW is unceremoniously thrown out of the house and her mother is horrified at her actions.

The next day, or a day or two later, the MFC's friend and her real fiancee show up because they feel guilty. They see not all is well and the MMC decides to let the MFC go back to the U.S. without him. She struggles but does leave with her friends. However, they don't get far before she begs them to turn the car around to go back to the MMC. She declares her love and a HEA ensues.
