Bachelors for Dental School?

Haven’t been planning on getting the bachelors. Just finishing the pre-requisites and going to apply to the dental school. But I talked to an advisor and she said that she recommended it. I looked into it and it would take me about another 1-2 years to finish the requirements of a bachelors (I have plenty of credits but not enough upper division credits). I’ve been really really excited and anxious about applying for dental school and I really don’t want to push it off for another 1-2 years. But I also want to have good chances of getting in. I’m wondering if anywhere here has experience with this. Anyone applied without a bachelors and got in? Anyone applied with out it and didn’t get in but did when you reapplied with a bachelors? I guess I’m trying to gauge my likelihood. Thanks guys.

Buses

Hey y’all. So my car just decided to crap out on me a few days ago and I don’t have the money to fix it and I certainly don’t have money for a new car. I’ve been catching rides with people to get to work and school but it’s been very inconvenient and I can tell people are getting tired of me asking for rides so I’m trying to figure out what else I can do. I looked at bus passes and they’re really affordable for students, but I’ve also heard really horrible things about the bus system here in Vegas. I’ve heard everywhere that they’re super unsafe and seem to have a lot of crime. Taking the bus would really help a lot but obviously I don’t want to be unsafe either. But of course those are just things I’ve heard here and there from people who have only taken the buses a couple of times. I’m wondering if anywhere here has experience with taking the buses to and from school. Have you ever had any issues? Do you feel comfortable/safe? I go to the north Las Vegas campus and the Charleston campus. Any insight you guys can give me?

Looking for CSN Dental Hygiene Program Reviews/Insight

Hey guys. I'm currently working on the pre-requisites for the dental hygiene program. This has been my true committed plan for the last 2 years, but my mind is starting to change a bit which is a big deal for me because I almost never change my mind once I've made it up and it's terrifying. So the more I learn about the dental field, the more I LOVE it! However, I'm becoming more passionate about the dentistry rather than the hygiene part. I decided a couple semesters ago that I could continue on with working towards the hygiene program, and that I would apply for dental school after. However, the more and more I get into it, the more I'm loving dentistry and the less I'm loving hygiene. I've considered dropping my hygiene plans altogether and just applying straight for dental school, but I'm terrified of that plan because dental school is extremely competitive and UNLV Dental only has like a 4% acceptance rate. Getting a Bachelor's in Hygiene would be huge for my dental school apps, and from what I've been told, it'll pretty much guarantee me a spot. But like I said, I'm kinda losing my drive for hygiene and getting too excited about dental school that I don't really want to push it off for hygiene anymore. I decided that I would complete the pre-requisites for both and apply at the same time, but I just realized that there's a big flaw in that plan. Although the application deadline is close to each other, I would hear back about hygiene pretty quickly, but I wouldn't hear back about dental school until about a year later. I'd basically be about halfway done with hygiene before I even know if I got into dental school or not. Logically, it makes the most sense to do that, but like I said, my heart just isn't really into hygiene anymore. I don't really want to do all that grind for something that isn't the end goal. I'm ready to grind for dental school, but not so much hygiene school. I think that I decided that if dental hygiene is more just hours heavy, and not homework/exam heavy, that I'll be willing to do it for the dental school apps. The problem is, I have no idea what the program actually looks like. So I guess this was a very long way of me asking anyone that is currently in the program or has taken it in the past to tell me about their experience. Is it a lot of studying outside of class? Do you show up for the class hours and then you're pretty much done for the day, or do you go home and still have to study a lot? I can handle the hours, but I don't want to just go home and study the rest of the day. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks guys!
