Vegan croissants

Recipe is from this thread by u/SmishKittens. I think they turned out ok for all the butter loss I had during the rolling. I guess they’re low fat now 😅 thanks for the recipe! I’ll keep working on making them perfect.

Ducky for adoption (it’s his birthday)

Tonight I’m doing my occasional long stay adoptable cat highlight, this time for Ducky 2.0. Ducky came to the rescue as a socialization case in June 2022. After compassionate volunteers worked with him to be comfortable in a home and around people, he was listed for adoption (almost one year ago). Today is his 10th birthday and he’s still waiting for someone to apply and adopt him.

Ducky is a sweet and quirky guy who loves snacks and treats. He’s even learned to sit with clicker training! He loves other cats and would do best with other cats in his home, but he’s done fine alone too. He loves to play with wand toys and he has a cute little screechy meow.

He’s not a lap cat but enjoys a nice neck scratch. Ducky will often curl up in a cozy spot across the room where he can keep an eye on everything. His only “special” need is daily Zyrtec in a Churu treat for a cough.

Let’s find this sweet boy a home! He’s available with Misfit Felines and you can learn more or apply at the link below. Ducky’s adoption fee is zero dollars because he’s been waiting so long.

If you have any questions (or birthday wishes), just comment below, and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Vegan blueberry custard brioche buns

I’d been thinking about making these for months because I miss Danish-type pastries. They seemed ok throughout the process and even look sort of ok but they are pretty terrible. Very dry and little flavor to the brioche base. I’m disappointed I wasted so many ingredients and so much time.

Favorite vegan meal or bakery item in the area?

I’m always curious to hear what vegan dishes people are currently liking in the area. I always like the high point harvest bowl at Great Dane and pesto Alfredo at Green Owl. A new bakery item I discovered is Dairyland Dessert Cafe’s oatmeal cream pies, particularly the carrot cake flavor. The shop is in Stoughton but they can also be bought at Vitruvian. Bunny Bites items are great too. you can get her items at serval places in Madison now, like Metcalfs and Qamaria and it’s all gluten free as well as vegan. The banana bread is amazing.
