Booking a trek after arriving in Nepal

Hi! I will be in Nepal from September 6 to 28. I would like to know if it is OK to book a trek when already in Nepal. My plan is to go to the Poon Hill area for short and not so difficult treks.

I really do not want to book many things in advance, so the idea would be to see my options when in Kathmandu. Please advice. Thank you!

Train + flight on the same day

Hi! Is it too risky (in terms of time) to take a train from Amritsar to Delhi (the fast ones) in the morning and fly at night (same day) from Delhi Airport? I'm trying to settle my itinerary and I will appreciate any advice about this possible dumb idea 🥸

Funny question? I'm a left handed guy going to Nepal

Hi! So, I will travel to Nepal and I'm curious about this left handed stuff. That people do not use the left hand for nearly anything, particularly eating. Am I going to be judged? hahahaha

I remember about some similar stuff in Sri Lanka, but I went there 3 years ago and no one bothered me with the left hand on restaurants or anywhere else.

Thinking about visiting Nepal in September

Hi everyone! I will arrive in India (Amritsar) at the beginning of September. At first, my plan was to stay 25 days only in India and Kashmir, but I'm starting to think of Nepal as well for a few days. My plan would be to go from Amritsar to Delhi and then take a flight to KTM.

I do not think I will have the chance to go for long and difficult trekkings, so my focus would be to walk around the cities and maybe go for short, day trekkings close to the cities.

What would you recommend other than KTM? I have heard about Pokhara and Syapru Besi (I guess that is correct?). How is the transport between cities?

I know that September is still monsoon season, so any advice in this sense would be much appreciated as well.

Regarding budget, I believe I will have around 12.000 nepalese rupees per day, which I guess will be enough for a nice trip (and I will try to save a lot of this money). What would you say is the most costly thing for a turist in Nepal other than the trekking tours?

Thank you!

Northern India and Kashmir in September

Hello everyone! 34M here. I will arrive in Amritsar on September 5th and will have 25 days to explore India. At first, I had a plan to go to Kashmir and then to Dharamshala area. Overall, I am interested in a mix of cultural and nature experiences. I will travel on a budget of around 7000 to 8000 INR per day, but I definitely want to save a lot of this money.

However, I’m not yet convinced this is the “perfect” plan. After learning about Ladakh region/Leh, I got very interested, but going over 3,500m usually makes me feel very sick (it happened to me before when in Kyrgysztan), so I’m a bit worried.

Do you guys think Kashmir and Dharamshala area are good choices for September? Should I try other places, like Spiti Valley (I heard there are still some issues with rain there in September?)? Maybe Uttarakhand region?

What about Rajasthan? I have seen many beautiful images from the area, but I am worried about the weather.

Other concern are the long distances, as I want to try to minimize wasting time on the road.

As you can see, I am a bit lost, so all advice will be helpful. Thanks!

Travel to Kashmir/India in September

Hi everyone! Need some help with Kashmir planning, please. I will visit the area in September (I will arrive in India via Amritsar). Is it OK/easy to travel around the region on my own (taking buses/shared cabs) having Srinagar as a "base"? I will travel alone, so I'm really not into joining private tours (and I do not want to be "stuck" in a schedule), particularly because it seems it will get much more expensive...

- How much would a shared cab usually cost in the region?

- When in cities like Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Gulmarg, how much should I expect to spend on local activities? I'm into some hiking experiences, but not long and difficult ones.

- What other cities in the region would you recommend?

Thank you!
