What was the point of renewing the Virtual Console trademark, if Nintendo won't bring it back?

So, I'm sure some of you already know that Nintendo renewed the trademark of Virtual Console back in October of last year, which led many like myself to believe that they'd bring back the service in the future, but according to this post, that's not the case, because they said that NSO will remain the only way to play classic games in the forseeable future: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2026/02/nintendo-seemingly-rules-out-virtual-console-revival-says-it-remains-focused-on-offering-classics-via-switch-online

I wanna ask this: what exactly was the point of renewing the trademark if they won't bring back VC? I understand that it would hurt the sales of NSO should it be revived, but how can you just renew the license of the brand and then do nothing with it? Just to tease your fans out there? Just to spite them? This sounds like the Gwimbly CEO from Smiling Friends who says "It's MY IP to sit on and do nothing with!" and this is Nintendo with Virtual Console. They might as well just revoke it at this point.

Stellar Blade 2 Reveal Is Coming Sooner Than Expected, Teases Dev

Maybe we can expect a trailer at Summer Games Fest next month? I still hope the game won't be full of AI slop.

So, out of nowhere, Nintendo did a Direct solely dedicated to Star Fox, and the announcements that were in it were a few games in the series, including Star Fox Adventures, coming to NSO, and a brand new game which is pretty much a remake of Star Fox 64. Now, don't get me wrong, the music, the graphics, the character designs, and the extra content like the online multiplayer and the innovative face capture similar to a Vtuber in avatar PFPs are pretty cool and all (the voice acting does leave a bit to be desired), but since it's a remake of 64, I'm not quite sold on it and I'll probably be sticking to the original version on the N64 which I've had since I was a kid.

Since it's a remake of 64, the plot is gonna be the same we've had since the first game on SNES, which fans have been getting really tired of because it's been recycled over and over again and Nintendo very rarely tries to do anything else different with it or do a continuation with it. Say what you will about Star Fox Zero, but at least that game was a completely new kind of game that would warrant a purchase from someone like myself interested enough in it, despite its plot being the same as the first game and 64. Had this new Star Fox game been an entirely new idea from the ground-up, like a follow-up to Zero, or something like that instead of a remake, then I probably would've seen myself getting my hands on it when it comes out.

If you're excited for this game and are planning to buy it when it comes out, then that's fine. You're intitled to that opinion and all, but me, personally, I'm not really sold on this game yet and I have no plans on getting it in the forseeable future (at least not at this time). Maybe I'll buy it when I hear more details about it even though it's coming out soon, like, next month, but right now, I'm just gonna skip it.

Since Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will have combat similar to the Arkham games, what if it'll have game over screens where a villain, depending on whom you go up against, taunts you in a way after you die, just like in Batman Arkham? If it does, then it'll be an instant GOTY contender in my eyes and I'll consider it to be the best Batman game since Arkham City. Even if it doesn't have those kinds of game overs, I'll still pick it up and still judge if it's superior to AC or not depending on the gameplay, level design, etc. What do you think? Do you hope it'll have Arkham-style game over screens?

I ask this, because when her Hellfire Gala skin was announced, said skin was unfavorably recieved by fans simply due to her cape, and I personally think it's her hottest design in the game and I kinda don't mind the cape, but I do see where the general consensus on it is coming from. Heck, I've yet to see any fanart of it and YouTubers like LegacyOfKaiser haven't even made any videos basically glazing it, which could be a major red flag for the skin.

Since the skin is coming out in a few days, I hope NetEase addresses the criticism and fixes it before it releases, because, like I said, I consider it to be Emma's hottest skin in the game yet, and it'd be a shame to let it commercially flop and then fade into obscurity because of the flack it got.
