CPDLC - how does it work?

I tried finding answers to my question online and here, but they didn’t specifically cover my concerns.

Does CPDLC in Vatsim context mean ATC will only communicate via CPDLC or do they also communicate via radio? Because in my recent flight I was tuned to the radio and didn’t hear a single word being said. I did see clearances in the messages by ATC given to flight numbers that I didn’t hear on radio or see asking for clearance in the messages.

Am I dumb for contacting CPDLC ATC (if it can be called like that even) via messages? I fly receive only because of microphone issues. Should it be done vis CPDLC or can I continue doing it via messages?

Where to/how to text ATC if flying receive only?

I tried flying for the first time on Vatsim as a whole and chose receive only when filing my flight plan due to microphone issues. Then, I double clicked control in vPilot (as it was the only ATC online and controlled the airport I connected in, so, I didn’t just connect in an uncontrolled airport) and wrote my clearance.

Waited for some time, as texts are less prioritized by controllers, especially if they are busy controlling all airports under their control.

While waiting I have to mention I heard bleeps multiple times while listening to radio, like notification sounds, but I didn’t see any messages or private messages in vPilot.

Finally, I heard the controller say my callsign on the radio, good evening and something I couldn’t decipher, but it was definitely not a clearance. I have no idea what they could have said.

I had to disconnect because it was getting really late at that point after waiting for a long time already, sadly, but this was one of those cases where I had no choice - I would have had to disconnect anyway and it was better to do there than in the middle of the flight.

Did I type in the text in the wrong place? Or was my issue just not hearing what the controller told me?

For the love of God, can’t raise my soft palate

I try everything to raise my soft palate as I sing.

Yes, I can do an extreme version of it.

But I can’t control a middle version, where I don’t sound like I am yawning, and don’t sound like I am a vacuum cleaner.

What I do instead is pull my tongue back into my throat when trying to raise it, which leads to disaster basically.

How do I do it? And no - not “Yawn and then sing”. I yawn, and then sing, and everything goes back to how it was, with my vacuum cleaner sound and tone.

How much alcohol causes noticable alcohol breath?

I am just curious, since me personally, my breath doesn’t stink of alcohol when I am drinking. I mean, maybe it’s just because I can’t notice it myself, but anyway, how much alcohol really causes noticable alcohol breath? Is it an amount, or can just a little bit already trigger it? Is it different for people?

How much can someone have to not get caught drinking?

Say I start drinking at 9pm and return back home at 11:30pm. What’s the most amount of shots I can take to not obviously smell of alcohol or be drunk when returning back home to parents? If it’s like even one, what protocol can I follow to avoid them detecting it?

What is this show? I remember vividly - they get delivered milk in bottles. They go to bed. The antagonist, which I remember being a cat, creates artificial snow. Then uses a paper sheet/metal sheet to create wind sounds and such. There’s tiny model trains running as well.
