Recreated Nihonbashi at Haneda Airport

This bridge is a reproduction of Nihonbashi, recreated inside Haneda Airport.
It is built entirely of Japanese cypress and is approximately half the size of the original historic bridge.
The bridge symbolizes Nihonbashi as the traditional starting point of journeys in Edo, reinterpreted here as a gateway for modern air travel.

This is how I dial in the RPM on my welding positioners when I weld.

How I dial in the RPM on my welding positioners

I originally made a small tool for my own welding positioners because I needed a more accurate way to measure RPM and reproduce past welding conditions.

Different machines had different gear ratios and control systems, and I often had to adjust parameters by eye. So I built a simple app that measures actual rotation speed and stores welding data such as pipe size, wire, current, and RPM.

I'm curious what methods or tools other welders use for this.

If anyone wants to check it out, this is the tool I use:

This is a 3D model I made before fabrication for a client discussion.
It was designed as a stainless expanded metal weldment.
At the time, I was using a different 3D CAD software. These days, I’m using FreeCAD and relearning CAD from scratch.
The job didn’t end up happening, but I want to build the skill to quickly sketch out ideas like this.

It’s very good overall, but in summer it blows hot air onto my face, and in winter it blows cold air.

There are optional coolers and heaters available, but the air purifier required to run them is too expensive for me to justify the cost.

I wish the built-in electric fan could somehow cool or warm the air on its own.

Until now, all of my tools have been 18V, but this is my first 40V tool.
I’m using it for pressure testing welded products.

A long-time companion that occasionally goes missing, then suddenly reappears.
This is my first post here — nice to meet you all.

After 35 years in metal fabrication and welding, I got tired of

struggling with scientific calculators just to get diagonal

dimensions for steel frames. So I built an iPhone app that does

it instantly — just enter your values and get the result. No CAD,

no complex formulas.

The app launched 2 weeks ago. Would love any feedback or

suggestions for improvement!
