How important is the quality of the grinder to puck prep?

I have a fairly cheap and basic grinder (Sunbeam) which I am thinking of upgrading at some point.

However how much difference will a decent grinder make to the overall results from the coffee?

Currently use a bottomless portafilter, wdt, self levelling tamper, but rarely get a coffee without any channelling. I also use decent fresh roasted beans.

I can make coffee which tastes good, but suspect it is not as good as it could be.

Has any one in Melbourne (Werribee area) had their lift insulation done?

Starting to look into it and get quotes and was just wondering what people feel is a fair price.

Is there eat bait I can use in Victoria, Australia which does not cause secondary poisoning?

I have just moved into a new house and there are rats in the roof space. I have killed a few with traps, but thinking of putting some bait down.

However, my neighbours have a free roaming cat and I don’t really want to kill it or make it sick if it eats any poisoned rats.
