Anyone had a good eispanner here?

I was in Korea and had an eispanner. The drink blew my socks off.

Its basically a hot mont blanc without orange zest. Think espresso shots with whipped cream. I'd be willing to travel for it, so if anyone has some good suggestions for cafes, I'd love to hear it.

What's your go to knock box please

I'm needing a new knock-box.. I have a Breville mini currently and the 'stainless' look coating has peeled off as I occasionally run it thru the dishwasher..

I also find it's a bit messy if it's got a few pucks in it.

I like the square form and don't want anything huge on the bench.

Had a look on Amazon but is probably hit and miss.

So, I'd love to see yours /hear suggestions please!

Coffee nerds, unlimited budget. What machine, grinder, and beans do you pick?

Money is no object. One machine, one grinder, one bean source. What's YOUR true endgame?

My current thinking after way too much research:

\- Machine: Kees van der Westen Speedster
\- Grinder: Kafatek Monolith Flat Max (Shuriken burrs)
\- Beans: roasting my own
\- Plus RO water + remineralization

Am I wrong? Would you go Slayer, GS3 MP, Decent, or a Londinium lever instead? Convince me.

Blackboard Coffee Roasters

Hey guys, have anyone tried their espresso blends or singles for filter? I saw they roast using a Loring and plenty of options but wanted to know your feedback.

Advice on coffee beans

Hi all,

Recently purchased a fully automatic and love it. I came from pods, so the difference is great. I'm also budget conscious as well and am after a smooth coffee at an affordable price. I realize smooth is subjective.

To give you an idea, I'm currently using St.Ali beans from coles. Pretty good coffee but very pricey. I'd like some other recommendations on a similar bean or quality that is cheaper. I tried lavazza Oro and while cheap, it was crap in my opinion. I live the Sunny Coast.

Takeaway coffee frustration

Just wanted to voice my frustration (I realise it's a first-world-problem thing but still).

Who the hell decided its a great idea to use awfully smelling markers to mark the take away orders on the lids. it's right on your nose when you take a sip ffs

first coffee machine help

Hi, I would like some recommendations please for a first step up from my current (3rd) aldi pod machine. Have enjoyed the pods but the waste is not great and im sure there are better options.
ideally want an all in one to start with (could probably be swayed to grinding beans if its simple), I drink flat whites only so whatever can make me one of those. (i reallly like the shell servo coffee machines they make a great one)
any help appreciated! oh and budget under $1k. thanks

Central Coast Coffee shout out!

Wanted to give a huge shout out to Rhys at Central Coast Coffee! <-----Link there!

First of all my order came with a personally printed coffee bag, a sample of their espresso roast and a bonus grape chupa chup (whoever said don't accept candies from strangers couldn't have meant coffee roasters!)

I ordered 3 coffees, and the smells coming from these bags were phenomenal, it took all my powers of restraint to leave them unopened.

The first and only one I have tried thus far is an astounding Tres Dragones Colombian Natural, with tasting notes of white wine, cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant and cola, and WOW! This one is such an intense white wine you could be mistaken for thinking it is a co-ferment rather than a natural.

After trying the Colombian I reached out and asked if I could come by and nerd out about all things coffee, and the same day he had invited me round for a chat. The Central Coast Coffee website is crazy in terms of the information provided on each bean, and the selection of roast to order filter beans has to be amongst the best in Oz. Rhys is a serious filter coffee fanatic, and the information and selection reflect his passion for the art, just take a look at the selection of espresso vs filter on their website!

Of particular interest not all his beans are roasted to the same depth, some filter beans are "light" roast and some "nordic ultra-light" which personally I think reflects a respect for the best roast the coffee can achieve. Resting times on the website seem based on roast level, which should hit most of us as logical, and he clearly defines the roast levels respective to weight loss during roasting.

To top it all off at the end of our chat he gave me 4 cupping samples as I was on my way out.

Central Coast Coffee, another great Australian roaster doing it right!

Importance of coffee grinders.

How important is the quality of the grinder to puck prep?

I have a fairly cheap and basic grinder (Sunbeam) which I am thinking of upgrading at some point.

However how much difference will a decent grinder make to the overall results from the coffee?

Currently use a bottomless portafilter, wdt, self levelling tamper, but rarely get a coffee without any channelling. I also use decent fresh roasted beans.

I can make coffee which tastes good, but suspect it is not as good as it could be.

Manta ray blends

Has anyone tried? Buying in the EOFY sale and enjoy light, medium and dark roast so tossing up which to buy! Have heard great things about their single origins but seems like a waste as I drink with milk. Thanks!

What’s everyone’s standard dose in?

For context I do use medium/ dark roast coffee with robusta and arabica mix. I have always found a 24g dose to be really nice and I use a precision 20-24g basket.

I pull 40g/44g of espresso in 30seconds with a good pour. Just wondering what everyone else uses for there dose in?

Coffee beans suggestion pls

Update: I appreciate the marketing suggestions, but as I have previously mentioned my preferred coffee style, I am looking for real-world recommendations

—————————
Something similar to Campos Superior and Colombia ( green bags from Woolies)
I heard Merlo is smooth? But Merlo Cafes sell only 1kg blue bags. Merlo website offers lots of different beans…
Thanks.

Byo Grind coffee

Hi Everyone,
Im not sure if this will be frowned upon,
But my housemate bought me some coffee beans from overseas as a well as some interstate while they are traveling,
But the problem is we don’t have any grinder

Is it okay if we ask our local cafe to grind for us ? Or is there any cafe or roasters in sydney 2000 that would happily or with service fee to grind for us ?

Once again thank you!

Best Quality Cafes?

I just launched Brewly. You buy a pack of coffees upfront from a cafe at a discount and redeem them there one at a time.

The cafe sets the discount, so you save on every cup. Cafes get the cash upfront and the repeat visits.

First few cafes are live and I'm building the list now. I'd rather grow it around places that actually pour good coffee than the most-Instagrammed ones.

Where are your favourite go-to spots? Especially keen on roasters and cafes you'd back on consistency, plus underrated spots that deserve more foot traffic.

If you roast or run a cafe and want to know how it works, comment or DM and I'll walk you through it.
