I have an interesting crank no start. Looking for advice

A week ago I got my 1994 530i running by tightening my throttle cable quite a bit. It had good spark and fuel (all tested) but wouldn't start. Realized the car wasn't getting enough air and was choking itself out. This is why I cracked the throttle plate open by tightening the cable.

I drove it about 10 miles as a quick test drive and brought it home. It ran beautifully, super smooth. No weird sounds. I dialed in the throttle cable and idle was super smooth. I then decided I wanted to get everything working properly without cheating the idle system.

I cannot figure out why it wont run/idle on its own. Im at a crank no start situation now. I removed the ICV, cleaned it and tested it. Valve rattles freely and I get ~12ohm resistance when testing middle pin to each outer pin, and ~24ohm when testing outer pins to each other. From what ive read this is in spec for the M60 ICV. It also buzzes quite strongly with ignition on.

With the throttle cable backed off fully with slack (closed throttle plate) the TPS resistance starts at ~1600 ohms and goes up to about 4400 ohms at full open throttle. There are no breaks in between. Is 1600 ohms too high at closed throttle? Does the DME think the throttle is being slightly pressed and not sending power to open the ICV for idle?

Cleaned the MAF sensor, not sure if theres a way to test if its actually good, but shouldn't cause a no start either way right? One pin on the connector has battery voltage so good there.

I hooked up my smoke machine today and found a small vaccum leak at the back of my intake manifold. Theres a little 90 degree plastic hose connector thats capped off. The cap is blown out. Going to replace that cap, but not sure that such a small leak would cause a no start condition. Will smoke test again once thats done and see if theres any more vaccum leaks.

Im kinda stumped from here. I know theres a coolant temp sensor and an air temp sensor as far as the "drivability sensors" go. Worth testing those? Can they even be tested?

Also not getting anything on the stomp test. I got a 1215 for MAF sensor, but that was only after I tried unplugging it and cranking. Cleared since and no further codes

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me nuts

Question about tire & wheel fitment

Old pic, just for attention

TLDR: Will 265/70r16 with 16x8 0 offset wheels fit without rubbing on stock suspension?

I have a 2005 SE, 2WD. Stock suspension, not interested in changing that. If my info is correct, the current (stock) wheels are 16x7 +30 offset. I believe factory tire size is the same 265/70r16, I have slightly undersized tires currently (255/70r16).

Truck needs new tires, and I also want to put some nicer looking wheels on it. I rattle canned the stock wheels black many years ago and they look rough now, so just want something new.

My question is: Will 265/70r16 with 16x8 0 offset wheels fit without rubbing on stock suspension?

I know 0 offset pushes the wheel out quite a bit more than stock, which I dont mind the more aggressive stance. I really dont want to deal with any rubbing though.

The wheels im looking at are DX4 Beasts with Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT tires.

Any info / thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Got it running!

Just a little update. Got it about a month ago for $750

Had to pull the fuel tank and clean it. New fuel pump, new fuel filters, new battery, new spark plugs. Refreshed the injectors with a Race German kit, tightened up the throttle cable and voilá!

Haven't driven it too much yet, need to get a few other small things done but so far it seems to run and shift very nicely. Much different feeling than my e30 lol

Fuel Pump Relay help needed!

Edit: 1994 530i, Automatic

TLDR: Tank is clean, new fuel pump, new fuel filters. Now starts and immediately dies. Testing fuel pressure at rail, but need help identifying fuel pump relay, and how to jump it. Are my relays in the correct spot here? And if its the same as my e30, white relay = DME relay, and orange relay = Fuel pump relay? Thanks!

Alright guys, the wiring is a lot more complex on these cars than on my early year e30 lol. Need a little guidance here.

Little bit of an update from my previous post. Pulled the fuel tank out and got it clean, no more of that nasty fuel varnish. Replaced the pump as well, got everything hooked back up correctly, and then installed new fuel filters.

After getting it put back together, went for the first startup. Tries to start, and sometimes does, but then immediately dies. If I give it throttle while cranking, it will start and run but only while im giving it throttle, if i let off it dies. However, it doesnt sound like all cylinders are firing when i do that. Seems like low fuel pressure or stuck injectors.

It has Spark, but the plugs are pretty nasty so ordering a set and will be replacing those. In the meantime, im going to check what my fuel pressure is up by the rail, and also take my injectors out and test/clean them, possibly get a rebuild kit from Race German too. With the amount of varnish that was in the fuel tank, I wouldnt be surprised if I have a couple injectors gummed up.

Enough yapping, heres my question: im trying to jump the fuel pump relay so I can measure fuel pressure. Are the 2 relays I have pictured the DME and Fuel pump relays? If so, are they in the right places? Also, I should be able to jump pins 87 and 30 on the fuel pump relay to turn the pump on right?

Also what are the 2 loose plugs in the E Box? 2nd pic

Thanks!

Fuel tank cleaning?

Hey everyone, been diagnosing my e34 since I bought it last week. Went thru all the normal checks for fuel and spark and it lead me back to my fuel pump. (Had good spark but wasnt getting fuel).

Heres how the inside of the gas tank looks. I have a video too but it wont let me add it. The gas is not gas anymore, very varnished. Gas tank is filthy with a lot of debris inside.

I bought a new fuel pump but will absolutely not put it in yet with the tank in this condition.

Where it stands right now, and with how expensive replacement tanks are, I think im going to pull it and try to clean it out. It looks to me like its a lot of debris / residue from the varnished fuel. I dont think theres any major rust except some light corrosion on the bottom lip where the sender unit sits, and some corrosion on metal lines inside the tank.

What are we thinking here?

New pickup! 1994 530i

Picked this bad boy up a few days ago for $750. Doesn't run, but soon will (crank no start). Has 193k miles. Auto trans unfortunately, but I couldnt say no. Exterior is a little rough. Will need to pull some dents, fix some trim pieces and refresh the paint. Interior is very good condition though. Overall pretty happy with it, seems to have been pretty well maintained, although unfortunately I dont know any service history. Zero rust on it which is a massive plus. This is my first e34 but im fairly well experienced with e30s. The V8 is a bit alien to me, but i love learning about these cars!
