Likelihood of moves being made before September?
I would bet a lot of money that we aren't going to be making any moves from now until puck drop.
DeBrusk isn't getting moved.
Neither is EP40.
Are you fine with this, or do you still believe either player is gone by Game 1?
This season will be first time Team Tank is embraced the entire way
It will be a different dynamic. Are you looking forward to it? No pressure whatsoever.
With all the criticism McDavid is currently facing backing Babcock, does it make you hate McDavid more as a Canucks fan?
It does because he endorses shitty people. It makes me want my tanking team to edge out a win against him even more.
I also don't want this man to win a cup in his lifetime, and certainly not in Edmonton.
How many games do you plan to realistically tune in for next season?
Last season, barely watched any games in full with tank commander Foote at the helm.
Initially, I plan to watch Manny's first 10 games. If we're 2-7-1 by the end of it, great for the tank, and I can tune in less. A lot of it I still anticipate will be painful to watch and isn't worth the 3 hours sitting through.
Why do you think EP40 has lost the love of the game?
The primary reason for it.
[SDPN clip] Ben Kuzma gets ripped for calling Shane Wright an "alpha male" in his article
Another warranted post for the cheap bastard
Jussi was probably still never picking us, but insulting him with a cheap salary is never a good look.
[Canucks Convo clip] Don Taylor on 650 getting canned and rips into the constant Toronto/Leafs coverage
THG released a video about the Canucks being the least likely of teams to break the cup drought, but there is a major flaw to his argument
The video in question is here: https://youtu.be/07A8V1i21T8
While he has the Canucks last, he fails to recognize that some teams who haven't won a Stanley Cup before or have a long drought placed ahead of the Canucks are on the path of being mid. They aren't good enough to win it all or bad enough to bottom out run by a delusional ideology that they are closer than they think to contending.
That alone should place the Canucks ahead of those mid teams because we at least have the foundations of a rebuild in place, thus increasing our chance at a cup later over mid teams wallowing in mediocrity.
The list of 19 teams he is ranking is essentially a list of who's the furthest away from winning it all right now, but is not a measure or taking account of who is more likely to win it all from presumably building the right way.
The real loss from 650 being canned is not being able to hear from Dave from Ladysmith or Mike from Surrey ever again
No one left to tell us we are worse than the 1975 Capitals or that we should slow our rolls. And no more people with a degree in logic on air.
Truly a travesty.
Back when Rogers used to be cool
The only time they were cool.
With all the EP40 trade chatter, do you think he's still here in September?
I think he's still here for the start of the season. Despite all the rumours, I very strongly believe nothing will happen.
Was this objectively the worst Canuck season in history for you?
Let's recap all the events:
Rick Tocchet quits on the Canucks and Tank Commander Foote is hired
Evander Kane is traded to the Canucks helping the Oilers cap space wise and gave them a free pick
Canucks became the worst team in the league by November
Quitt Hughes says "fuck this shit, I'm out"
Quitt Hughes infamously drops a ChatGPT farewell message on IG and proceeds to say he "doesn't really know a lot of [our] guys" in a Wild interview despite once being the Canucks captain
USA wins Olympic Gold and we find out Quitt is a hardcore MAGA and joins in on making fun of his mom
More vets are moved for assets, including fan favourite, Kiefer Sherwood
Canucks finish with the worst home record in franchise history and 14 points behind 31st coached by Tank Commander Foote
Patrik Allvin is fired as an utter failure as Canucks GM
Despite having one of the worst seasons in Canucks history, Canucks fall from 1st overall to 3rd overall in the draft lottery. This makes the Canucks the unluckiest team in terms of most lottery spots dropped in the league surpassing Detroit (10 spots compared to Detroit's 9 spots)
Leafs grab 1st overall, and the Sharks grab 2nd overall. Essentially the worst case scenario
Jim Rutherford steps down and officially casts a black mark on his HOF career with his time with the Canucks
Sharks trade Eklund and guarantees Stenberg is not a Canuck after many weeks of hopium
Sportsnet 650 is canned by Rogers and causes many beloved sports personalities to lose their jobs
Did I miss anything?
Should Rutherford's tenure with the Canucks be considered a blemish on his career or tainted his HOF status?
I would consider it to severely taint his HOF status. I don't care the man has a cup. His tenure with the Canucks and how poorly it went should put a bad mark on his career and HOF glory.
Did we essentially get Drew O'Connor for free by getting back a 1st for M Petey?
The trade was obtaining:
- Markus Pettersson
- Drew O'Connor
And sent to Pittsburgh:
- Danton Heinen (non-impact)
- Vincent Desharnais (liability)
- Melvin Fernström (who cares)
- A conditional 1st round pick
Tidy work from RJ to recoup value back.
