Looking for Colorist for 26 pages (~$60 / page)

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a Colorist for Chapter 3 of my graphic novel. It's about a dream detective named Whitney Frenata, who is sent to investigate a strange "nightmare fever" spreading around a city in the aftermath of a destructive solar flare.

I want to have the entire thing colored eventually, but I'm an abysmally slow artist and it probably won't be finished for another 2-3 years. In the meantime, I want to get a proof of concept on how the finished art could look, and figure out some of the difficulties that might arise working with my art style. I'm just doing Chapter 3 for now because I'm satisfied with the inks, Chapters 1 and 2 need some revising.

The art was made with a Ligne Claire style in mind, but I'm open to other coloring interpretations. My backgrounds are often fairly detailed, so good use of contrast is important to make sure the action is easily visible. Being able to capture the mood is very important as well! I'm a big fan of the colors in games like Night in the Woods and Nevermore 3. Not that I expect my pages to look like that, but I would love to find a similar combination of beautiful lighting with simple colors!

Pay starts at $60 per page, with a $300 bonus on completion of the 26 pages (Total $1860 USD). If you think you could do a really nice job but need more money feel free to pitch me! This is my baby and I want it to look beautiful :)

To be clear, this is NOT a contract for coloring the full book, and you are NOT guaranteeing you will be available in the future. If things go ideally, I would love to commission the rest, but this will be 2-3 years away.

The pages above will hopefully give you an idea of the project. If you want to read the WIP Chapter 3 it's here - NSFW for the aforementioned nudity.

Right now my plan is to pick 3-5 Colorists and commission a trial page for $100. If you're interested, please drop your portfolio in the comments. Thank you!

[Sad trope] Down by the water, waiting for the end.

General John Gordon MacArthur - And Then There Were None

"He knew, suddenly, that he didn't want to leave the island."

One of the more tragic characters lured to the island, General MacArthur is a man living in the shadows of his past. Since ordering his wife's lover on a fatal mission in the Great War, the General has been plagued by guilt, haunted by the man he sent to die and his wife's broken heart, which eventually leads to her death. As he gazes out to sea before his murder, full of regret and sorrow, his final feeling is great relief - that the island is, at last, the end.

Mike Ehrmantraut - Breaking Bad

"Shut the fuck up... and let me die in peace."

After being fatally shot by Walt, Mike stumbles down to the river. When Walt finds him a few moments later, he has realized that he is dying and is calmly gazing out at the slow moving water. Although he could have attempted to kill Walt in a final act of vengeance, he prefers a moment of contemplation. After a life full of trouble and tragedy, he is ready to let go.

Australia - On the Beach

"Maybe we've been too silly to deserve a world like this."

After a nuclear war wipes out the northern hemisphere, a cloud of radioactivity is left slowly drifting south, thanks to all sides deploying "salted" cobalt bombs. Australia does its best to keep going right 'till the end, mostly because there isn't much else to do. As town after town succumbs to radioactivity, the characters each deal with their impending mortality in different ways. Some are bitter, but most are just sad that after everything, this is the end humanity led itself to.

If we hypothetically assume the universe is indeterminate, do we have free will?

I'll start off by saying that I think many people are unfairly prejudiced against indeterminism. It is perfectly viable, though not proven, that chance is a fundamental building block of physical laws.

Let's assume for a moment that this is the case. Nothing supernatural happens, but identical causes can produce different effects in a random fashion. All effects still have causes, and the universe still follows statistical laws.

For instance, we could set up a gun to fire when a particle radioactively decays. If this decay happens randomly, the gun would fire at a random time - however, it would still be the radioactive decay that caused the gun to fire.

Do you think this indeterminism would be enough for free will to exist?

If yes, where do you think agency would come from?
