Hello was wondering if TDCJ is still super understaffed? Was thinking of joining in about 6 months when I move. Will it still be quite easy to join?

Hello was wondering how out of state application process is. Looking to move to Texas because the wife got a job offer in Houston. Willing to drive 1-2 hours if I have too for work is there possibly max units available ?. Can anyone please provide some insight if they have been an out of state applicant.
