New rod, new PB, first Walleye

I formally apologize for the way I am holding these specimens, I know it’s not ideal but I didn’t want to set up a camera and have them sitting out of the water. Either way was a glorious day for a noob!

New rod, first walleye

Moved to Alberta in February, and recently picked up fishing. Just bought my first Baitcaster on Saturday, and was fishing pike and caught this specimen! Apologies for the way I’m holding it, I promise he survived the manhandling

Trying to catch our first fish

Hi everyone, me and my partner have recently moved to Calgary, and we are really struggling to catch fish here.

We’re both pretty new to fishing, and have been trying to do a ton of research to be successful, but have fished around 10 times with no luck. I really want to get her a fish, and it feels like no matter what we try, we get skunked. I know fishing tips/spots are closely guarded secrets, and respect it. Just wondering if anyone is willing to share some wealth.

So far we have tried:
-Bow river (policeman’s flats, 22X bridge, fish creek, by carburn park.)

-carburn pond (are there even fish in there?)

-sibbald lake (went early in season, I don’t think it was stocked at that time?)

-Dewitt pond (recently stocked, many many fish jumping but either I just suck or they were too small to be interested in spinners/bait)

-ghost lake (fished from 6-10pm, plenty of jumps in evening but no bites)

We are shore fishing, and we have an ugly stik elite / GX2. We are mainly using 6lbs braided line, with a barrel swivel, 3’ mono leader, various spoons/spinners/rooster tails/ minnow lures, and 2 split shots. Have also tried power bait on a bobber where permitted to no avail. We love fishing, and catching comes secondary, so we are still really enjoying it here, but would be nice to catch something lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time.

I’ve attached a photo of our setup for context, so far it’s the only thing we’ve caught..
