Would you whip?
I'm planning a sport climbing trip soon if anyone wants to come. I'm always happy to belay! Just send me a DM.
Automoderator tried to block this post because it thought it was too serious lol. Automoderator is clearly a gumby.
The dynamic option is always more fun
Why do the static beta when you could just do this?
Gumby scientists don't understand climbing grades
Looks like 5.9 at best. I thought research professors were smarter than this
How hard is a marathon vs walking 100km in 24h?
So I just completed a 100km hiking challenge which was easily the hardest physical thing I've ever done. I've never tried even a half marathon before and I was wondering how hard a marathon is compared to something like this for the average person. Obviously they're completely different kinds of difficulty but for most people which is usually harder to complete overall?
Help choosing gear!
Hi so ive been climbing for a little over two weeks now and it seems like everyone does indoor bouldering but I feel like im different and i want to be more unique and look cool or something so i thought id try ice climbing because i saw a cool guy doing it on YouTube and i want to try it but i don't know where to start.
What do i get for my first ice pickaxe though? Im torn between the petzl summit ice cream and the black diamond venom is sexy.
Any advice would be much appreciated as i want to make more friends in the climbing community!
Edit: the automoderator warned me not to post this because it thought it was a serious question not circlejerk lmao
Cool move but does it count as a Dyno?
I thought I'd try and skip out the little crimp on the side of the volume for this boulder and ended up doing this fun swingy move. Not exactly a Dyno imo but what is it then?
Edit: yes I know there are easier ways of doing it, I just did this because it was fun. I guess this is just a dynamic move but not an actual Dyno?
President Trump to attempt Gasherbrum VII
I've heard a lot on the news lately about Donald Trump's plans for the G7 summit. Never knew he was a hardcore alpinist! Anyone have any info on his climb?
Are cupboards aid?
So I was talking to a friend the other day about my winter ascent of Mount Teide a while back which raised the important question: are cupboards aid?
We started climbing a bit after 1:00 am and aimed to reach the summit for sunrise. Unfortunately I'm a pro speed climber who flashes everyone's projects so we were nearing the summit too early and we couldn't stay on the top too long because it was like -15 Celsius or smth. Luckily, the route setters built a cable car station for all you gumbies to use instead so we went to shelter behind that. That was the moment we noticed a red light coming from a slightly opened door on the side of the building. Of course we went inside to find it was an external maintenance cupboard full of other climbers. We spent almost an hour resting and sharing beta in the cupboard before timing our summit push perfectly for sunrise. The question is: are cupboards aid...
Help! I've been trying this slab for weeks and still can't crack it
Hear me out ok
Hi everyone, I've been climbing for 2 weeks and can only flash up to V12 so I really want to take my training up a notch because I feel like I'm a bit behind. Here's my idea:
On Earth I weigh about 60kg, if I were to climb on the moon I would only weigh 10kg and everything would be really easy. Imagine you grew up on the moon and that was the only place you climbed. When you first climb on Earth a V2 would be crazy hard. What if I do the reverse and train on Jupiter for a couple years so my body gets used to the ultra high gravity and when I come back to Earth I'll be able to flash V17?
If anyone is/knows someone who owns a gym could you build another one on Jupiter for me so I can train there for a bit and when I come back I'll hit headlines by flashing burden of dreams, silence and your free solo proj? Most importantly though I'll finally be able to send the pink one in the corner
This guy just flashed my project. What do I do?
Side note: where the fuck is he clipped in?
Great for free soloing
Black diamond's marketing team really outdid themselves on this one! I was so excited to wear a harness like the one Alex Honnold used in free solo! I'm definitely sending my free solo proj next week now
Saw this guy on his way to my climbing gym...
I was doing a biology practice paper to revise for an upcoming exam and accidentally wrote something about people who can send higher boulder grades being at lower risk of heart attacks. Don't ask me how. Made sure to chalk up before picking up my pen ofc
Saw this on my local gym's safety video. They seem to be suggesting pregnant people are more likely to spontaneously start climbing.
Hi guys, just a quick question because sources online are pretty mixed: do you need to be above a certain age to climb trekking peaks in Nepal like Mera, Island, Lobuche East? Obviously you need suitable experience, fitness etc but are there age restrictions for the permits themselves?
