Why give high level radiation for microscopic positive margin

Im failing to understand this. My husband has hpv positive scc on his septum and it remained local. They were able to remove the cancer surgically and he was told there was a slight positive margin but the surgeon felt ut was negative but pathologist felt it was positive so they are recommending radiation as extra precaution but high levels going into his nose and front palate. The side effects and risks seem very high for possible microscopic positive margins. I jist don't want my husband to go thru possibly getting more cancer from radiation but I also understand the risks of it coming back. Can anyone help me understand this or had similar questions?

New caregiver advice for spouse

So I recebtly became a care giver for my sort of husband. He won't marry me even though I have stuck by him for 11 years bc I take opiate replacement neds and I am stable and have a great job, ect. So I accepted it, but I feel like I accepted too much as he is always yelling at me the last 5 years have been not so great.

Now that im taking care of him its worse. They didn't properly explain things at hospital for after care so he lost his mind screaming as im driving back and forth to the drugstore trying to get it right. This causes me massive anxiety when im trying to keep him calm bc he cant get his blood pressure high but if I tell him to relax he gets even more angry and hostile. Its just one thing after the next, I was out at the hospital for 8 hours or more while he was in surgery and when we got home bc he refused to stay overnight the humidifier wasn't working right and I tried to troubleshoot but I couldn't figure it out so he berated me for that.

Im just exhausted and overwhelmed, i dont know if I am mentally able to do this anymore but I dont know what to do anymore as there is no talking to him. If I even said how I feel somehow it will be my fault and then he will threaten to leave. He isnt always horrible let me say that he does a lot for me but at the same time I dont know if its bc he loves me or just feels obligated

Anyone ever nlt beeen told stage of cancer 3 weeks into testing?

My husband was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with ssc hpv 16 positive coming from nasal septum and from all scans so far 3 ct scans and a mri rules out spread. They are making him wait until 9.15 for surgery. Im very scared of the surgery since this cancer is so very rare in the nose as well as hpv in nose is rare. I havent heard any stories on it just there and also we still havent been given a stage. My husband has a q and a with him next Wed that I cant make due to a dentist apt so I hope he finds out then. If anyone has any experience I would love to hear how your surgery went.

What can I expect for radation therapy for my husband

My husband was recently diagnosed with hpv positive scc in nasal pathway only so far. Dr thinks its been there at least a year but thinks it was caught early. My husband and I are only 44 yrs old, we are totally shocked and numb by this news. Dr said as of now he still needs to do 1 more mri, the ct scans so far show no spread to lymph nodes or neck. Hopefully no spread to skull.

Dr said surgery to get a negative margin and then 35 rounds of radiation. I've never seen radation therapy up front or known anyone personally go thru it. Can anyone tell me if its just radation for his nose how bad the side effects will be, anyone go thru this surgery? Im so scared bc he has never had any surgeries in his 44 yrs other than lasik.

Dr said risks are blindness, meningitis, ect which I know there are risks with all surgeries. Im so scared and lost I dont knpw what to do, I csnt sleep but im exhausted.

Anyone have knowledge/experience with hpv positive squamous carcinoma in just the nasal passage?

I know I shouldn't be asking this but im very worried as I have not seen any stories really about successful treatment of this cancer in the nose. Most seem to be in the tongue or neck. Im just wondering if this is much more uncommon and how the outcomes have been with surgery only. Mostly just wondering if anyone else has had this or just super uncommon

Dont know what to do

My husband was just diagnosed today with hpv positive squamous carcinoma in the right nasal pathway. He is only 44 yrs old and was totally fine 5 months ago and we thought it was allergies forever and turns out it was not. I literally cannot fathom my life without him and im terrified of all the next steps and what is to cone. We were told first we need to meet with a rhinologist and then if they cant remove it will be radarion. I have never dealt with cancer up front like this before and I dont know if I am going to be able to cope, please anyone have any advice or experience?
