She was clearly just working up the confidence to ask.
First time mom to an 18 month old here who is STILL breastfeeding. When I started breastfeeding, I thought I’d do it for maybe a year. I figured as she ate more food and got older she would just kind of naturally wean.
How wrong I was. Around 14~ months I started really wanting to quit and the stuff I read online said “Don’t offer, don’t refuse.” I’ve been trying to do that. But she shows no signs of slowing down.
I offer her multiple snacks and meals throughout the day as well as drinks. She does eat some. Although she gets bored and starts refusing food quickly. She’ll drink small amounts of juice and water. Milk is tricky.
The doctor has no concerns about her weight but I can’t help but worry she’s not getting the nutrients she needs.
When she’s asking to breastfeed I do my best to distract her with play or books or other snacks. Or a walk. Anything I can.
Some days are easier than others. The main problem is reallt at night because she still breastfeeds to fall asleep and wake up 1-2 times a night wanting to feed. I feel so exhausted and frustrated and I’m just tired of it and ready to be done.
I’m thinking of trying cold turkey but I don’t know how to best manage that transition and make it as easy as possible on her.
I would love any advice or tips you have. I’m open to anything.
***Proof of ticket purchase to my new movie REQUIRED before asking questions.
I have a hard time putting into words exactly what I’m looking for but hopefully the pictures do it justice.
I’ve always had a fondness for stories about the kind of people you might meet in a dive bar on a random Tuesday afternoon. Back in your hometown that you couldn’t wait to leave. Or any kind of story about someone in the working class who just struggles to see a way out.
I guess those stories just hit close to home.
Would love any recommendations you have.
