Hello everyone. I am currently writing a piece for orchestra and choir. As I am from the orchestral and instrumental world, I have limited knowledge of how choir notes looks and what is preferred by singers. Do you have any general tips I can bear in mind when writing their parts? I am talking about simple stuff like "Text not being too small" or "Keep a readable distance between words". The tips does not have to be specific, but just any recommendations from you more experienced people would be much appreciated!

In my conductors' score for a piece I have written the total height of all parts vary slightly from page to page, i.e the gap between the part that is the furthest down on the page and the edge of the page. I would like for each part on each page of the score to be located at the same height, if you understand me. Have any of you encountred this problem? Is there a way to fix it that you know of?

Waves, both mechanical and electromagnetic ones, always have a set speed that they travel in, whether that's the speed of light or the speed of sound in a specific density of material. But what is the reason for that, and how is that proved to be?

If I have a speaker and move that backwards or forwards relative to the direction of the sound, the speed of sound will be the same (assuming a constant air density) but the wavelengths will differ. Is it somehow proven why the speed always is the same for waves and why the speed of the wave simply does not change instead? Or have physicists obtained this information based on many experiments?

I am VERY new to relativity and theoretical physics (have not gone to university yet) but I am deeply interested in understanding the concepts. Right now I am trying to achieve a better understanding of Einstein's special theory of relativity, but I am kinda stuck on the topic of simultaneousness.

In the book I am reading on the topic, a thought experiment with 2 lightning strikes that strikes simultaneously according to one observer but not to another is brought up. A "static" observer, relative to the ground where the lighting strikes hit of course, observes the lightning strikes as simultaneous, whilst another observer on board a moving train behind the first observer does not since they would have traveled a small distance when the light rays reach them.

But in my stupid head I think "Why does it matter that the second observer is moving? Couldn't the second observer just look at the two lightning strikes from another angle so that they are closer to one strike than they are the other? Then the strikes would not be perceived as simultaneous."

Of course I understand that my though process is not correct, but could somebody explain to me how I should think about this, and how Einstein really derived time dilation from the postulate of a constant light speed?

Hello all,

Boxsotted has been up and running for 6+ years at this point. It has mostly been a side project for me, something to work on from time to time when I feel motivated. At times it has been kind of dead, at times amongst the top servers on Minehut (which is where it was hosted before, not the case anymore)

Around a year back, we decided to do a large reorganization of Boxsotted to transform it into a network of servers instead of one single server. Since Boxsotted originally was a Skymine server, all servers on the network has/will have some sort of grind-feature. This new network is now up and running, but far from finished.

There are also lots of other expansion projects, such as setting up an official website for Boxsotted to offer plugins and other Minecraft related products and services.

If you are interested in anything from staff- and player management, Minecraft building, Discord moderation, web design, plugin development or if you simply want to experiment with new techniques and test out new things, this is a great opportunity for you.
Boxsotted does not have the financial status yet to offer pay to staff members, but as soon as revenue starts being generated, the topic of payment will become relevant.

Recently I have taken up work on the server network again, this time with other ambitions. This includes a website to offer high-quality plugins made by the server, relevant Minecraft Discord bots and much more.

If anybody is interested in joining this initiative, feel free to contact me privately. There are no requirements on previous technical skills. A strong quriosity and will to learn new things goes a long way, and a large portion of the project is targeted to experimenting with new techniques and ideas to see if it possible to provide new types of value for server other server owners and staff.
As of now, the project and servers does not have the economy to offer paid positions, but as soon as the project starts generating income the topic of payment will become relevant. There are no expenses on your end. Server hosting or potential other costs are fully covered by me.
