Lesser known songs on the story of Mirza Sahiba

Ideally songs based like the story properly rather than just a one line reference, also maybe from different povs rather than just sahiba was wrong, but both sides work, i just wanna hear more of the music made on the story

1. Who goes on your Mt. Rushmore of Punjabi lyricists?

Im gonna do this for: lyricists, producers, female singers, male singers, then an overall one where its one of each

Pick 4 lyricists on whatever basis you want, i.e. genre, impact, quantity, who they worked with etc

Repsect everyone elses opinions and enjoy :)

Raj Hayre - For The Culture

Debut album announcement, poster and pre-save link.

First single out this Friday

Very excited to see what they cook up, hoping that its not repetitive sounds, desi frenzy is good but the last single Jhumke wasn't their best work imo. But this seems to have some great collabs, Miss Pooja, Mani Longia and Dippa Dosanjh (probably a tribute).Overall really really looking forward to it.

Songs about Sassi's abandonment as a baby

I know ive heard one but i cant remember which, but also can you guys recommend some more of how she was left floating on a river and abandonedby her original family, it seems the majority of songs are on the latter parts of the story.

Ranjit Bawa - The Folk Era

Mirza - 8/10 : impressive vocals i just wish they would have used folk instruments, which is likely to be a common complaint through this review.

Na Bai Na - 6.5/10 good lyrics but same spund as the last song

Jagga Jatt - 9/10: 🥺DesiFrenzy🥺 Traditional lyrics and proper instruments its near perfect

Laung Labb Gya - 8.5/10: big fan of Shazia Manzoor and it was lowk giving the 90s kind of uk music

Mitti Da Bawa - 7.5/10: good song overall, obviously the lyrics are great but liked his vocals especially towards the 3 min mark, and was a 6 minute song which is nice to hear

Kissa Suche Da - 6/10: good storytelling, but Nick Dhammus production is pissing me off icl, he stuck in 10 seconds of algoze.

Nachna Babyan Ne - 6/10: its sounds like a kulwinder billa song from (not a bad thing). Nothing new in production either.

Panjab Calling - 7/10: im sure people will like this song, better production too, bawa doing his usual thing

Jawanian Maro - 7/10: good message, boring production again, im surprised desi crew is active after all these years.

Overall: 7.28/10: dont get me wrong its a good album, i have no idea what he sees in nick dhammu or desi crew, Jagga Jatt was a clear standout imo, if ur gonna call it the folk era, its gotta be more than just lyrics (stories and positive messages) and a few snippets of algoze and tumbi in the background between verses. Production was however the only let down, good work from Ranjit Bawa and lyricists in this project.

Ranjit Bawa - The Folk Era (poster and tracklist)

While i cant say i listen to him much, this is a good move from him cuz i see many people referring to him as one of the only people keeping up the folk kind of music these day.

That being said im not a fan of the virtual dhols and tumbis, this kind of album with someone like tru skool would be incredible, either way i look forward to what he comes up with
