A message I got from mass today

I just want to spread a message I received from mass today, which I think it is relevant to the time we live in. It's a simple message which many Christians would have heard many times.

Peace is a gift from God. Do not let anyone take it away from you.

We live in a time where hate and malice and unkindness are being spread every second through social media. We live in a time where we fight with our friends, families, and even strangers over the smallest issues. Forgiveness is tough. I understand. Everyone struggles to forgive.

As Christians we are called to be peacemakers and peace builders. For we are meant to follow two of the greatest commandments that have been given to us. The commandment of love.

Matthew 22:37-40:

***"***Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

"This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

But remember, Jesus had the power to stop crucification. He had the power to command angels to remove all that would harm in. Yet he chose compassion, kindness, forgiveness and peace.

Matthew 5:9:

For blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God.

3 tips from my own experience for Indians moving to Ireland

Hi, this is just a few tips I think indians moving to Ireland can use based on my own experience.

1.

Try to engage with people outside of the Indian community.

I'm not saying everyone doesn't do this, but it's important to build connections beyond your own community. Talk to your coworkers, take part in social activities that aren't just with other Indians, and if you have the time, consider joining a sports club or picking up a hobby. It can make settling in much easier. And it can go a long way. If you are in university join clubs and societies you are interested in. You can make a lot of friends there and even ones you probably stay friends with even after university.

2.

If you're moving here with children, let them build their own social lives with other kids.

Don't make their entire life revolve around the family. Encourage them to play, talk, and make friends with children in the neighborhood and at school. It will help them integrate, build confidence, and feel more at home.

3.

If you're feeling homesick or don't see yourself building a future here, listen to yourself.

If you find that you're constantly unhappy or planning to return home after working here for a while, that's okay. Your mental health and overall well-being are more important than staying somewhere you don't see a future for. There's no shame in deciding that home is where you're happiest.

Conspiracy idea: Ai generated videos on social medi

So with how fast AI generated images and videos are developing, I am sort of having this fear of what if majority of the videos on social media are ai generated to make people distrust each other more. These images are created to drive hate between different communities. I am not saying all of them are liee. But what if a good number of them that we see often on social media are Ai generated so we become too busy becoming insecure, manipulated and having fear of others. I mean how many folks do you know in your daily life that act so violently regardless of what skin color or religion they are? If there is a lack of trust among the ordinary folks, it will be harder for them to organise against powerful individuals.

Sorry this is my first time on this subreddit and I am pretty sure someone has posted something similar before too.

Should we stop organizing Indian events?

Genuine question, u think we should stop organizing Indian outdoor events as I think it might feed into the already existing anti-immigrant sentiments that are on the rise. Especially due to how messy these events can get. We don't even get proper bins to keep the area clean.

Is there anyone else who think we should do the same?

India needs better response

I appreciate Dr. Jaishankar's response and acknowledgement of the incident. However, India needs to respond much more firmly. The United States is an important partner and vital to India's economy, but that does not mean India should overlook actions that have historically gone against Indian interests.

From the CIA involvement in Mizoram to decades of support for Pakistan despite its links to extremist groups, many Indians view US policy in the region with understandable scepticism. When operations put Indian merchant vessels and seafarers at risk, India cannot afford to remain passive.

If India does not respond firmly, it risks appearing weak on the global stage. There needs to be a clear message that actions which endanger Indian lives or interests will not be taken lightly, regardless of which country is responsible.

How likely are we able to take a stand against racism against indians

Hi there,

I am just wondering what is the chance that we can actually take a stand against racism against indians. For example, I am talking about going on strike by the indian workforce across different parts of the world.

One thing I notice is that outside India, we rarely advocate or stand against racism shown at other communities in other parts of the world. So I don't really expect people from other communities to come support us. Maybe a few only.

I am not advocating for any sort of aggressiveness but I believe we should definitely take a global stand against racism against indians by conducting a strike.

Is it possible to make this happen? Or is that too much?.

Can we genuinely stop supporting foreign nations on social media?

Okay so Everytime I open social media and posts regarding any country, whether it's Israel or USA or Iran, we always see indians supporting other countries more than others. And this is not from any specific communities or anything.

And maybe you can argue this is just social media..we are in a day and age where social media impacts daily life. It manipulates how people think of others. With so many bots, and trolls on the Internet, it will bring out a depressive thought that maybe the world lacks empathy. And the worst part is that it also affects the people around you as almost everyone is either reading the news, or watching it on Instagram.

Of course there are so many kind people who have mutual respect towards indians as well.

What I am saying is that in no aspect we should be overly supporting another nation to the point it seems like we have no self respect.

I mean genuinely we have seen how indian flags are treated abroad by almost every country whether it is USA, UK, Pakistan or Bangladesh.

I think we as a nation need to have a spine to stand against people who do not respect us while they are expecting us to side with them.

And this does not just go for social media. Even in ordinary daily life, during debates among family and friends, you will encounter many people strongly supporting one country over another. But we as citizen should be standing with our fellow indians first whether they are from North or south India

This is nothing to do with any religious community. It's just we as a nation should be putting India first then every other country second. And if there is no mutual respect we should stand our ground.

What if India stopped wasting its energy fighting itself.

Every year we lose time arguing over religion, politics, caste, language, region and ideology while the rest of the world keeps building.

Just imagine for a second on what will happen if all of that energy went somewhere else.

Imagine spending that energy on better education, better research, better infrastructure, better discipline, and better systems.

Imagine an India where nobody cares whether an idea came from left or right.

The only thing that matters is that does it improve the nation or not. Every single act of bribery, favoritism is treated strictly and harshly.

the only thing that matters is competence and contribution.

The best engineer gets the job because they are the best engineer. Not cause of reservation, not cause of nepotism, not cause they had better advantage.

The best teacher leads because he or she is the best teacher.

Research and innovation vital to the development of the country are funded the most.

Leadership is chosen because they earned it.

Imagine every state trying to outperform each other through progress instead of politics. Whether they are Congress or BJP or CPI or TVK or DMK or whatever it is. Doesn't matter. If they are corrupt, say something that is absolutely morally and ethically wrong they lose their position.

What we have then is competition through improvement instead of division.

We become united and use the advantage of our diversity.

The nation itself should run on equality, discipline, innovation and merit. Not money, bribery, religious division, or populism.

An India focused on only three things:

Self improvement.

State improvement.

National improvement.

A country this large should not be weak because of diversity.

It should become unstoppable because of it.

Let's first start with the question what is politics?

Politics is always and always will be about one thing. How resources are distributed. Everything else is just an idea on how and who are going to distribute these.

If topics like religion, identity, language are brought into politics by politicians then you should remember that when you vote you are giving them power to decide how the distribution of resources are controlled.

What is secularism? The whole concept of secularism is to prevent religion from having power over governance. In fact, parties such as IUML, Peace party, BSP, any parties that associates with any religion are all anti-secular.

As a nation, what should we prioritize? Sure we can protect our identity, we can be proud of it. There is nothing wrong with that. However, the moment you bring yours and others identity into politics it hinders development and you miss something vital. Are you voting on the basis of what religion/caste someone is or on how you believe resources should be distributed.

For example, I personally believe there should be more technocratic governance where ministers have certain qualifications necessary to govern over their department and there should be milestones set by them to track progress.

Democracy isn't just something you can take for granted. The sacrifice for an independent democratic india was blood. That blood was given by all. Regardless of what religion or caste or ideology they had.

See as indians, we shouldn't be standing with political parties. We shouldn't be standing with any religious authorities either. We should be standing with the people. Regardless of who is the cm or pm or the ruling party, we the people are the kings.

Article 21 of Indian constitution says every person has the right to life and personal liberty. This includes dignity, privacy, and the freedom to make choices. Consent isn't just a part of it. It is vital to personal liberty

Consent means having control over your own body and life decisions.

Marriage does NOT mean automatic consent. Even in marriage, a person can say “no.” and pursuing intercourse even after being told no is Marital rape and is a real issue.

Sexual violence must be taken seriously, as well as false accusations. False cases doesn't just harm men but also hinders Justice for actual victims of rape. Justice should be fair for everyone.

Consent also applies to life choices such as career, roles, and relationships.

Inter-caste marriage should not be an issue, but it still is. People should be free to marry and have relationships whoever they love, with mutual consent.

No one should be forced into roles. A woman can choose to work or stay at home. A man can choose differently too.

True equality means respecting choices. “No” matters, and “yes” should be free.

Without consent, there is no dignity and without dignity, rights are incomplete.

It is vital that we teach our kids why consent is important and importance of bodily autonomy. Such topics should be raised among families.
